Yesterday was a chilly, windy day in Central Park.
The moment the Sun disappeared behind a cloud or a tree, it felt like the North Witch had already arrived in The Big Apple. Still, I had one last opportunity in 2010 to put my guitar on my shoulder and hang with you guys by The Lake.
Yesterday marked the 19th time I said, "What an amazing year! I feel like the luckiest man alive."
I've said this so many times. But if any artist I know... if any independent artist in this town got to spend just ONE day like I did yesterday... if they just put their guitar on their shoulder and headed out to Central Park in the middle of the greatest city on the face of the earth, if they had no boss, no record label telling them what to do, no manager managing them, no time schedule, no Creative tethers of any kind... if they had just a guitar and a heart filled with gratitude, a head full of thoughts and a list of stories to tell... if they just showed up and stood by The Lake and shared songs with friends and strangers from all across the country and all around the world, and they got to sing with people who spontaneously burst into song and an occasional fit of skipping... and if they got to be right in the middle of that kind of organic musical event...
If they got to do that just one day... just once... they would remember it and probably talk about it for the rest of their lives.
Thanks to all of you, I've gotten to do just that hundreds and hundreds of times of times over 19 years. And I did it again this summer. Oh man!
That's just a very, very long-winded way of saying...

So good bye to one more "outdoor" season of being "That Guitar Man from Central Park".
.
I'll be back with photos and VIDEO all this week.
And here are a couple of photo galleries from this season and last. These photo galleries exist largely because of the enthusiasm and camera work of publicist Laura Manske and others who send in photos, and the 2010 gallery will continue to grow as I add more photos over the next few days.
(No matter where in the world you're reading this, if you've ever hung out with me you might find your smiling face in one of the galleries!!!)

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
