Okay...

Let's begin a new week.

I have a whole bunch of photos from this past Saturday here today. (I'll have more all week.) So many of them are being sent in every week by publicist Laura Manske. But a whole lotta people have been shooting out there and sending their work in to the site.

Very cool.

And I'm gonna post some more video, too.

But let me start off once again by saying... THANKS!

It was another one of those days... the kind of days I'm used to but I will never take for granted.

.

Man!

There were several times during the day when I was laughing so hard that my face hurt.

And we had another young couple who just got married happen by. Probably have video of that moment tomorrow or the next day.

.

So, check back tomorrow and I'll have more. And here's a gallery of a whole bunch of photos from last Saturday and all this summer so far in Central Park.

BTW -- if you're gonna be in or around New York City on December 11th, you are NOT gonna wanna miss this year's "Something'th Annual Year End Concert". I'm already talkin' to the kids about it and we're gonna have an amazing night. I'll start lettin' you guys know more about it soon.

But for now, if you're new around here you should know that there are lots of videos, lots of FREE songs to download... lots of reasons to browse The Archive.

And listen.... I'm not gonna let this go because I feel so strongly about it. (And folk-singer/peace-activist legend Mr. Pete Seeger is doing a concert tonight in The Village in support of exactly the same principle I've been singing about for the past 2 weeks.)

If you oppose the building and location of Cordoba House downtown... you're simply wrong.

You are simply allowing fear and anger slip in line in front of Principle and Courage. Understandable... but wrong.

Here's a little re-post.

There was a time in this country when it was popular and it felt good to root for the underdog who was doing the right thing. It was cool to stand up for the "little guy" who was outnumbered. It was considered noble and courageous to stand with a minority who's voice was being drowned out by a mob. We saw that quality celebrated in movies like "The Alamo" and even "My Bodyguard" or "The Karate Kid".

But now in America, it seems that everyone wants to be a part of the mob. When a small number of committed citizens, when a minority shows up to stand up for principle, the angry mob shouts louder as they point to "polls" that say more people are huddling with them in their anger and fear. From lightweights like Bill O'Reilly and Glenn Beck pointing tirelessly at their "ratings", to the people who've been emailing me in the last week pointing to the "polls" of people who are angered by or afraid of a minority in this country, it seems to me to be a disturbing trend -- that there is correctness in numbers, that "might makes right", and that because there are more people comfortable in the darkness, that the darkest room is the best place to be.

I dunno. Maybe it's always been this way. Maybe I've been kidding myself about the character of this country's citizenry. I hope not. I'm not sure about any of this. It just feels this way through my experiences over the past 9 years or so -- and especially in the past 2 weeks.

I used to think Americans really dug standing behind the little guy who's standing up for principle. Maybe I was wrong. (I've been wrong before. That's when I learn.)

On that note...

Here are a few thousand people standing up for principle and takin' it to the streets last Friday night. This event was organized by a group called New York Neighbors for American Values. Please check them out.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
