Man! There's no way I could ever express the feeling of gratitude and wonder I feel today for the people in my Life -- my family, my friends, my colleagues, fellow artists... open-minded, reasonable, kind, strong, Good, Good caring people.
After a day when a small fellowship of us headed downtown and waded through an assembly of the most twisted, fearful and angry people I've seen in one place in a long, long time on Saturday, it's good to have shaken it off and gotten back to the work I love.
And this Saturday, I'm heading back home... to "The Hill". Gonna put a guitar on my shoulder and spend the afternoon doing what I love to do... singing songs, telling stories, laughing, sharing thoughts and my day a few thousand of my closest friends from all across the country and all around the world in the middle of the coolest city on the planet.

Got sooooo many cool things comin' up on the horizon. Who's the luckiest independent artist in the world?
I am, right?
This Saturday Teresa Reynolds is supposed to show up in Central Park again, and when she does... when she's anywhere near me and a guitar, you can bet your ass we're gonna be singin' together.

And on the first weekend of October, a wonderful filmmaker from Brazil, from San Francisco, um... from the planet earth... Moises Nascimento is comin' out to film a very special song with me. If you're gonna be in town, I want you to think about marking that date on your calendar and heading out to be a part of it. He's making a very special movie called "Duas Americas". (I'll explain more when it gets closer.)

And... what else? Oh yeah!
This silly song and video have now been seen and heard around the world by well over a quarter million people.
We live in a very cool, very odd time in history.
If you haven't seen it yet...

And if you read yesterday's update, you know that until this country begins to regain any sense of the principle and dignity it claims... I will keep writing songs and making videos like this one.

You might wanna check out my original thoughts by hitting this link. I received an awful lot of email in response to this update. Most of the people who dig my music are people who just "get it".
But what I saw downtown on Saturday on parade with a group afraid of the "Islamization of America"(Whatever the fuck that means in their fantastic, fear-driven little minds.) ...was not only a disgrace, but also an inspiration and another source of gratitude for the people in my life and the work I was meant to do.
So we keep going!

But let me leave you today with a wonderful moment from just 2 Saturdays ago!
"Hill" regular, Sid Bernstein(The man who brought The Beatles to America) was out there again and I strung a few cables together to get a microphone to him so he could sing to the crowd.

Thank you to Laura Manske for catching that beautiful moment on video forever.
As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
