Welcome to the website.

Yep, the statistics show it again... besides all you people here in New York City, there are lots and lots of new people showing up here from all across the country and different parts of the world.

Very cool.

And I'm really looking forward to putting my guitar on my shoulder and joining you guys again this weekend. It's Labor Day Weekend so I think I have something a little special in mind again for you guys on Saturday.

.

I've been "That Guitar Man from Central Park" for 19 years now... so I really do feel like the luckiest man alive. (I would hope we all feel that way about our lives.)

If you haven't checked this site in a while or you're new around here, you really might wanna check out the ARCHIVE and look back through some of the recent updates.

This week, here at the site I've posted a whole bunch of photos from last Saturday and all this summer so far in Central Park.

THIS NEXT PART IS NOT FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE A THIN SKIN or if you're easily upset by hateful meanness!

(If that's you... just skip over this part and scroll down to the videos.)

.

Y'know?

We live in a fascinating age. We really do. (I mean, it's not more fascinating than any other time in history... when we're paying attention. But by paying attention, I'm almost constantly fascinated.)

I write songs.

That's what I do. It's what I'm meant to do with my Life. I know it's what I'm meant to do because of the way it feels when I'm busy doing it. But being an American singer/songwriter in the 21st century is a fascinating ride in the current social climate. And what makes it more and more fascinating is that with technology being what it is in our society, I can almost instantly experience many individual immediate and personal reactions to the words I write.

Yeah, yeah... blah-blah-blah. I'm talkin' about Youtube, Facebook and email.

Y'know the song I wrote called "RESOLUTION"?

Well, there is a video out on Youtube that combines the original video with a live performance when I was in Central Park. (At the "Away Game" last year.)

That day, I had just about had it with the fear-mongering and self-serving bullshit of Glenn Beck and phonies like him, so I kinda said so while I was singing the song.

THAT video has just caught the attention of the Glenn Beck, Fox News crowd.

HOLY SHIT! I happened to check out that particular video yesterday and the "comments" that are coming in blew me away.

Such anger. Such venom. So much blind, boastful ignorance.

Such unembarrassed stupidity.

I mean, this morning I read this comment:

"When islamic communists take over this country and your little music show is shut down, you will learn what torture really is. You won't be complaining about the conservatives then. You will see what they were trying to warn you about fool."

Islamic Communists? Really? Ha! I don't even know what that means!? But I missed that report on the news... that Islamic Communists are about to take over the country. (I'd better tell my friend Aziz over at the Dunkin Donuts on Amsterdam Ave. He'll wanna get in on this I think.)

(sigh) So many frightened... frightened people.

But the rest of the comments are no better...in fact many are much, much worse. (Even the penis insults are lame.)

I guess I must be doing my job.

Moving on.

Now generally, this site is about Life, and Love, and Laughter and above all... music.

But last week I wrote 2 updates that address this genuinely embarrassing circumstance about that cultural center which is planned to be built in downtown Manhattan. I had a lunch meeting with a brilliant songwriter and good friend of mine named George Wurzbach, and as we were discussing the matter, I was using words like "insane" and "fear-driven" and "narrow-minded" and "shallow". But he used the word "embarrassing" and he's right. As an American citizen and as a sentient human being.... the opposition to the that cultural center being built on Park Place is... embarrassing.

You might wanna check out my original thoughts by hitting this link. I received an awful lot of email in response to both updates. Most of the people who dig my music are people who just "get it".

But the written word didn't seem enough for me as an artist. So in the last couple of days, I buried myself "in the cave" and wrote a new song.

You can watch it by clicking on this image.

There are lots of FUN videos, lots of FREE songs to download... and that's another reason to browse The Archive.

Right now and for anyone who's new at the site, the newest song that's makin' the rounds on the internet is my new song about the upcoming final installments of the Harry Potter series of movies. It's a song about the character, Hermione Granger.

IT IS AVAILABLE FOR YOU TO DOWNLOAD!!!

I'm serious!

Now you can download the song itself, and walk around with it in your ipod or mp3 player and sing it to yourself on the bus, in the subway, in the car... while you're on facebook.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
