Hey, welcome to the website.

Hey! Were you out in Central Park with me last weekend? did you see this guy hangin' out there with us. (He's there almost every week.)

I'll write a bit about him further down the page.

But first, what can I say?

Um..... wow!

I'm workin' on a brand new song that I can run by you guys this weekend. I love it when a new song starts to really work. Y'know? It's the coolest thing about the Creative process.

There was no song -- now, there's a song.

And the weather's lookin' really good... I mean, perfect again for this weekend. Especially for Saturday. Maybe a little rain comin' through town today and early tomorrow, but we'll play it by ear. I'm pretty sure we'll be cool by evening tomorrow. It'll clear up. (But then again, that's what they said about my face in high school!)

So YES! Weather-permitting, tomorrow night the "Sunset on the Hudson" concert series continues. I'm gonna head down to Pier 45 in Hudson River Park to play the Sun down again and kick off the weekend. MUSIC STARTS AT 7:00 It's a very cool thing. Just take the #1 train to Christopher Street and walk west until you either see me, or you get wet, or wind up in Jersey. (I'll be hangin' out in the middle of the Hudson River at the end of Pier 45.)

.

And then, you know what happens on Saturday!!!

The same thing that has happened nearly every beautiful, warm Saturday afternoon for the past.... well, for an entire generation.

We head to "The Hill" by the Lake in Central Park for the afternoon and whatever happens happens.... with music at the core of it all.

That guy in the park... his name is Sid. Today is my good friend Sid's birthday. I'm gonna do a little writing about that today, because Sid is a very cool man.... done some really cool things to change this world.

.

ABOUT SID BERNSTEIN!

I have a good friend. A "possibility-junkie", just like me.

His name is Sid.

He started out as being an anonymous fan on "The Hill", but now we're very close and he's beloved by so many people on "The Hill" in Central Park. He's there almost every week. Now, Sid doesn't ever check the internet. But, I will print out any birthday messages you guys send and deliver them to him personally.

Y'see, Sid is living an amazing life. Seriously. He's done so much to make this world a better place it's just amazing and he keeps dreaming new dreams. (That's one reason I put his name on so many things I do.)

But, for the few of you who don't know... Sid changed American music history forever when he introduced The Beatles to America.

. .

Besides that, he brought The Rolling Stones here... ABBA... countless others. He also played such a huge and underrated role in breaking the racial barriers down in this country by being the first promoter to book white and black acts on the same rock 'n roll bill. (He also made James Brown the very first rock n soul act in Madison Square Garden.) He discovered and managed The Rascals. He's also been humbly on the front lines of political activism from the rise of the Nazis, to the current corruption of the American government, from the civil rights movement to the recent assault on The Constitution... he speaks with presidential candidates and people who have no voice. And he has always spoken out where and when there's been a need. Over his lifetime, he's been some amazing places with some amazing people. (Anyway... you just hafta read his book.)

So, Sid has been a promoter, a producer, a manager, an activist for Truth and Reason... he's been immersed in the music business his whole, long life. But he's never played one note and... he's never written a song.

Until now.

One day Sid left a message on my voice mail that became the inspiration and hook-lyric for a brand new song. Instead of leaving one of his patented 5-minute messages, left this... just a few words... and all he said this day was,

"David - -
Keep hope alive. The best is yet to come. Keep... hope... alive.
It's Sid"

And then he hung up.

So, I wrote the song and it's on the new CD. It's the first song in this world on which the credits will read as follows.

Words and Music: Sid Bernstein and David Ippolito

It's today's FREE download. Next time he's in the park, we'll all sing it for him for his birthday!

See you guys back here tomorrow. I have a really full day planned today. (String enough of those together, you get a really full Life!)

Two of the freakiest things have happened with 2 of my silliest songs. The music video for "Facebook is a Stupid Idiot" has been watched and shared by nearly a quarter of a million people around the planet.

And then newest song about the upcoming Harry Potter movie was just published in Seventeen Magazine.

Check this out!!!!

Very weird for me. Very cool, though.

Thanks for everything.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
