Okay, except for the fact that Bachata Fest was playing Summer Stages and the bass was fuckin' thumpin' an entire 2 mile radius and from 5th Avenue to Central Park West... we had an amazing day in Central Park on Saturday.
Bahata is a style of music from the Dominican Republic that features: guitars, a bass, various drums (including bongos) and a guira, the sandpapery metal cylinder. Most of the day's six acts worked slight variations on the familiar bachata setup. But they did it...
LOUD!
It mostly sounds like a dance mix.
(Ha! And some people have the nerve to complain about our 7" speakers and James Taylor-like vibe in the park.)
I guess it was a little late in the day that I really, really began to lock into the energy of all you guys on "The Hill". I had fun all day, but I really had fun in the second half of the day.
And I'm so glad I got to play a brand new song for all of you and freeze the lyric. The song is called "You Might Be Her". The second time I played it, I knew... that's how the song goes.
So, thank you.
Publicist Laura Manske was back out on "The Hill" and down on Pier 45 Friday night with her camera. Here's the first batch of photos she sent to the website from Saturday.

And here are a few from Friday night at the "Sunset on the Hudson" concert.
Teresa Reynolds made it down for the first time. "The-below-fourteenth-street crowd" got a treat. This woman is something special. I love singin' with her!

I really had an amazing weekend. When I post a few more of the great photos from Friday and Saturday, I think you'll get an idea why I felt so strongly about playing the Sun down with Sting's great song... "Fields of Gold"

Now, that other song about "Facebook... Idiot" is still rocketing around the world. As of today, almost a quarter of a million people all around the planet are passing it around. (Must struck a chord inside a few people.)
If you haven't seen it yet...

Pass it on to all you friends. Post in anywhere you want! Now one more thing about that "facebook" song!
As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
