Hey!

Wanna start off the day saying thanks.

Thanks to all of you who sent messages of affirmation and support in response to yesterday's update. It was overwhelming.... but most of you "get it".

And thank you to every single person who emailed me with an opposing viewpoint. Thanks for taking the time to write. (But I feel that you are as wrong as you could possibly be. And I hope that somewhere in the deepest, most beautiful place in your heart.... you know it, too.) You, of course, have the right to "feel" differently. But the Constitution is VERY clear. In my experience and from the email I've received in the last 24 hours, too many people who call themselves "conservative" and who tend to sound off about "defending the Constitution" ...are nothing more than selectively moral and selectively principled when convenient. (Especially about the 1st and 14th Amendments these days.)

Fear and anger are powerful yet sometimes subtle emotions if we allow them to be.

BTW -- I bristle every time I hear someone use the term "Ground Zero Mosque". There is no fucking "Ground Zero Mosque". It's a community cultural center.

I also bristle when I hear the term "hallowed ground". This is what got you upset about a building 2 blocks away!?

Here are some of the things on your "hallowed ground"!

. . / . . . .

Add to the list... selectively outraged.

Moving on... here we are in August of another summer. We've got a LOT of "outdoor" music left this year! But tomorrow night will be the last installment of the "Sunset on the Hudson" series. I've really enjoyed that gig this season. The crowd was great. The staff was wonderful. The weather was fine and the sunsets were spectacular. (We even had a tornado warning one night!)

Great year.

Tomorrow is our last sunset for the season.

And, I'll be back in Central Park this coming Saturday. What can I say about that? Sharing music and stories and laughs with all of you for an entire generation... writing songs and singin' them for you guys. What a life!

Seriously... thanks.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
