Life is amazing. It really is! What a f*ckin' ride!
Y'know, sometimes when I see somebody on the street and they ask me, "Hey David. How you feelin'?"
I sometimes answer, "Man! If I was feelin' any better I'd be twins!"
This is one of those times. Here we are in a new week and I woke up with a flood of ideas that are swirling around my head and heart. New songs. New stories. New thoughts that I have to write down. New things that I feel like I hafta share with the world.
I'm really sorry we had to let a beautiful weekend like this one go by without getting to hang out together in Central Park. But there's nothing I can do about that. Some things in Life just suck. The Permit Office at the Parks Department still hasn't sent us any paperwork for the month of September either. But please hold off on some of the email. I understand that you guys are upset, but I'll let you know when I know something, okay?
In the meantime, I have to play an out-of-town gig during the day today an then I'll try to jump on some brand new video to post here at the site this week.

OH LISTEN!!!!
I know a lot of you check in here from different parts of the country and different parts of the world. But here in NYC, I saw one of those hateful, shallow, just-plain-ignorant advertisements on the side of a New York City bus yesterday.
This one was conceived, bought and paid for by a bizarre, very odd woman named Pamela Geller.
One very strange and twisted woman.
Later this week, I'm going to try to bring you a sample of a debate between Ms. Geller and myself if I can work it out. So check back for that.
But my new song and video a little further down the page might give you a little preview. (I wonder if Ms. Geller writes songs or sings... or if her hobbies only include spreading fear, hate and intolerance.)
Anyway, if you haven't checked this site in a while or you're new around here, you really might wanna check out the ARCHIVE and look back through some of the recent updates.
This week, here at the site I've posted a whole bunch of photos from last Saturday and all this summer so far in Central Park.

Now generally, this site is about Life, and Love, and Laughter and above all... music.
But last week I wrote 2 updates that address this genuinely embarrassing circumstance about that cultural center which is planned to be built in downtown Manhattan. I had a lunch meeting with a brilliant songwriter and good friend of mine named George Wurzbach, and as we were discussing the matter, I was using words like "insane" and "fear-driven" and "narrow-minded" and "shallow". But he used the word "embarrassing" and he's right. As an American citizen and as a sentient human being.... the opposition to the that cultural center being built on Park Place is... embarrassing.
You might wanna check out my original thoughts by hitting this link. I received an awful lot of email in response to both updates. Most of the people who dig my music are people who just "get it".
But the written word didn't seem enough for me as an artist. So in the last couple of days, I buried myself "in the cave" and wrote a new song.

I'm serious!
Now you can download the song itself, and walk around with it in your ipod or mp3 player and sing it to yourself on the bus, in the subway, in the car... while you're on facebook.
As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
