Once again...

HEY! To all of you who are new here. And welcome to all of you who check this site every day.

Coupla things...

First, the song "Facebook is a Stupid Idiot" is being played in Dominic King's radio show in the UK today. I'm tellin' you that song is getting around the world. Many of you remember when Dominic and I became mates across the sea when, after 9/11, he played my song "Crazy on the Same Day" for his drive-time audience.

Then after that we became even better friends after I used my website to allow so many of you to send thoughts of support and compassion back to the UK after the London subway bombings.

Well, it's nice to be in touch with Dominic again for a genuinely ridiculous reason!

Here... this is a link to the BBC and DOMINIC'S SHOW.

You can "listen live" or choose to "listen again".

His show is a "drive time show" that starts at 4:00 in the afternoon in the UK. So if you wanna listen LIVE, that's 11am here in town.

.

Now one more thing about that song!

IT IS AVAILABLE FOR YOU TO DOWNLOAD!!!

I'm serious!

Now you can download the song itself, and walk around with it in your ipod or mp3 player and sing it to yourself on the bus, in the subway, in the car.... while you're on facebook.

Click on this link and get the song right now!!!

Just great! Moving on.

.

Here in The States it's time for the All Star Break in Major League Baseball and The Yankees will be well-represented tonight. They also got to the break in first place. The Mets are playing well but struggling just a little and the Boston Red Sox are fading at the midway point.

But this week, 2 pieces of Yankees history said so long.

George Steinbrenner and Bob Sheppard.

If you're new around here, you can check the ARCHIVE and look back at recent updates.... or go back through the years to check out all kindsa cool shit on this site. There are free songs to download, free Photoshop images and a ton of videos to check out.

But...

Whether you thought Mr. Steinbrenner was good for baseball or not, he certainly was a force. (Not to mention the hysterical character that Larry David created around him for Seinfeld years ago!)

And the class and dignity of Mr. Sheppard was undeniable.

I wanna take a moment in today's update with something I posted this past Sunday.

Now, I understand that many of you are not baseball fans. Hell, a lot of you live in different part of the world or in different parts of this country and so you're probably not Yankee fans. But if you've been coming here for any length of time, you know that I love baseball and heading up to The Stadium whenever I can.

I have for most of my Life.

I was taken to my very first Major League baseball game when I was a little boy by the man I call "Pop". (Because he's my father.) When I was in high school I headed up to The Bronx as often as I could with the boys... Pete, and The Breeze, and Danny, and The Bishop, and Stan, and Bobby. My first girlfriends could always count on being my date in the stands... usually in the cheap seats. So many memories.

I have so many memories of sharing fun summer afternoons and thrilling summer nights at Yankee Stadium with the woman I love.

Baseball and The Yankees are certainly in "The Toy Department of Life", but they're just such a wonderful part of my life.

Today... the man who presided over The Bronx Zoo in the 70s and all the pennant-winning and championship teams since then, reached the jumpin' off place.

So long Mr. Steinbrenner. You were an original!

And the voice of those memories, one of the consistent echoes of my past, a comforting sound from my youth and a big part of the tradition of The Yankees and Yankee Stadium died.

Here's a small tribute.

"Now batting -- behind the microphone -- the #1 announcer -- Bob... Sheppard -- #1"

.

Good bye, Mr. Sheppard. And thanks.

NOW!!!!

I've got a secret that I'm gonna reveal here at the website in the upcoming weeks. It's about an upcoming movie release and I don't think you're gonna hear about it anywhere else but at this website... maybe eventually on Youtube once I tell you guys.

So check back often and I'll keep you posted.

In the meantime, there's a song of mine that has gone just a little bit nuts on Youtube. It's just a funny thought.

In a way, there is another song I wrote that I wish would have garnered the attention that a song about facebook has attracted.

It's this one.

Click to watch

But...

What the hell. I'll keep trying. It's a big part of what I do. I wrote in a more recent song...

Armed with one piece of wood
I have long understood
Good Guys don't always win,
But they're always good. they don't pick battles they're sure
They can win on this earth.
No, the Good Guys fight battles
Because of their worth.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
