A couple of things...

First things first. Sorry I missed you guys in Central Park yesterday. I'm still in Texas! Did a one-song gig down here at the Kerrville Festival. (But, I'm updating this page during a layover in an airport named after someone... I don't like very much.)

But, the plane's late and I won't be getting back home to NYC until around midnight tonight.

Listen, I'll get back to my regular updates tomorrow. And I'll let you know how we make out with the situation about playing at "The Hill" this week.

Welcome to all the newcomers, checking out this site from different parts of the country and different parts of the world.

Geez! I miss one Saturday and I start getting an awful lot of email. (Things come up, y'know?)

And so this won't be a particularly long update.

But if you're feeling a little "music deprived", this city is one of the greatest places on earth for FREE music. There are a few things comin' up that you oughta know about.

This first one is kinda fun.

Y'know the friend I reference once in a while who works with us at The Parks Department to help facilitate what we've been doing in Central Park for the past 19 years? Nelson?

Well... he's got a hard drivin', straight-ahead-rock-n-roll band called "Button Down Runner"... and they're gonna be playing The Bandshell in the park this coming Friday night. (June 11)

If you go and check out this band and you see Nelson Nicholas, though.... just call him Nick! (Short for Nicholas.)

I'm sure you can email the group to find out a few more details about it. I would definitely be there, but as luck would have it I have a gig the same damned night!

Okay....the other thing.

Folk-legend and good friend Christine Lavin is gonna be signing her new book at the Lincoln Center Barnes & Noble on Monday, June 7th at 7:30. She is a funny, funny woman and I'm absolutely sure that this thing will be a blast.

I'm gonna try to be at that one! Maybe I'll see you there!

Here's photo from a recent article that Chris sent me.

Moving on.

Okay listen, if you're new around here are the links for 2 galleries.

I'll be back on Monday to tell you all about Texas.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
