Y'know what?

Before I post the brand new "Facebook Song" for you to share with all your friends, I'm gonna take the first part of today's update to say something to all of you. (Yeah, yeah we'll get to the music and the video and the fun in a second.) But I wanna take a few moments to say...

THANK YOU.

Thanks to every single person who has ever shown up in Central Park, or down on Pier 45 in The Village, or at Merkin Concert Hall, or at The Thalia, or The Red Lion, or any of the other great venues I've had a chance to play. Thanks to every single person who's ever spent one day checking in here at the website which I try to update with cool stuff every day. I mean, if you're reading this right now I'm talking to you. Sincerely --

Thank you.

I'm just beginning another year of being called "That Guitar Man from Central Park". It's been occurring to me lately that, just like it says in my song "Here Today" --

.

"...nothing last forever. Everything must have an ending, like a song."

.

Now, I have NO idea when the day will come when I won't be "That Guitar Man". We're about to begin year #19 at "The Hill" in Central Park and I have a feeling it's gonna be another amazing year filled with music, laughs, the unexpected... the amazing.

But the only thing that is certain in Life is change. That's a Good thing. Maybe soon we'll be taking the same kind of thing that I do in the park every week to the internet, so that we can hang out with the whole country and the whole world once a week. Maybe I'll just try to hit the road and take my guitar out of my zip code a little more.

Who the hell knows?

BUT one thing is for sure. I'm gonna keep writing as long as I've got something to say. I'm gonna keep singing as long as you guys can stand to listen to me. And I'm gonna keep sharing the road with all my friends and with the people who are on the same path as me... people who help me do my work and who I will never be able to repay for their faith, enthusiasm and support.

Right at the beginning... Pop and my Mom, from the very first tiny guitar they put into my little hands a million years ago. David Abramowitz, the man who produced the very first album. (The People on the Hill) James Marino, "The Evil Genius"... there are no words for this guy. No words. Kara of the G.I.G. foundation... all of you will never know how much she has supported the work I do in the last year and a half since she's come into my life. And by helping me, you have NO idea what she's given to all of you. It's amazing that Life just works that way.

The "Chief of Stuff" Laura Manske... who just in the last year and half has worked more tirelessly and selflessly to get that "It's Just Us" feeling out into the wider world. Allie, Andrea, Mary, Rhea, Katie, Elodie, Muriel and all of the ladies in "The Allie Corps". You're asll such beautiful women. Truly.

Glider, "David Yankee", Sue, Dennis... Damn! The list would go on and on and on.

There are soooooo many more people with whom to share my heartfelt Gratitude. But for now I'm just gonna say...

Thanks again.

Click on the banner that falls into your bag... your feelings about facebook. Leave a little comment or a little story if you want... about your ex, about a childhood friend, about a moron, about a stalker, about a lost love that you found, about the most ridiculous thing you've ever seen posted. About whatever you want.

There will be a window that reads, "Respond to this video"

Go ahead!

SATURDAY was my first day back out in Central Park and it was an interesting day. Started off so, so slow in so many ways. Rain in the morning - fences up around the area we were supposed to be hangin' out according to the Parks Department Permits - a small crowd at "The Away Game". But then the wind began to pick up and so did the crowd, and so did the music, and so did the confluence of energies that make what I do in Central Park such an amazing and uniquely New York thing.

Here's a bunch of photos sent into the website from Saturday.

Click on each photo for a larger image.

. . . . . . . . . .

So we're officially into the 2010 season.

BUT... I still don't know what's goin' on with the Parks Department so far this year. Last week was the second week in a row we received Special Events Permits for an area of the park which is still fenced off for the season. (That's why we went to "The Away Game" last Saturday.)

Check back this week and I'll let you know what I find out about this coming weekend and the Saturdays to follow.

Cool?

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
