Actually, the past 72 hours have been really wild.
Tell you about in a minute.
But first.... no we didn't get a chance to hang out in Central Park yesterday. The Permit Office at the Parks Department didn't issue the permit I applied for.
So, sorry... no music.

One of the really cool things about this website is that soooooo many people from all across the country and all around the world send me email and send me photos and stuff.
But this photo came in from the webmaster and "Evil Genius", my buddy James Marino.
.
Must be referring to my new song.
If you wanna watch the video of the debut of this song in front of a LIVE audience, check out this video and pass it on as well!

BUT -- I got another photo from a good friend in Maryland. Y'see, this past week I was cast in another national network TV commercial. So, y'know... that's a really good thing.
But the whole job was kind of a fire drill right from the beginning. The ad agency and the client were scrambling to get the spot done to a certain deadline, and the decisions about what it should look like were flying back and forth at a furious pace for 3 days. I wound up in a wardrobe and makeup maze for 2 days before the shoot. Lucky thing that everybody on the job, from the director on down, were all really fun, cool and very professional people.
Still, one of the creative decisions that had to be made was about what my character's hair was supposed to look like. (When the spot starts to air you'll understand.) On Wednesday, I was in a hair stylist's chair from 2:30 until about midnight getting hair extensions. (Which were subsequently removed the very next day from 1:00 until 7:00)
ANYWAY... I had to laugh yesterday.
After I posted yesterday's update, a good friend and former music partner of mine, the man I call MV who now lives in Maryland, emailed me a little Photoshop image he did to give me a laugh.
He has NO idea how close he was to the first concept they were going for on Wednesday.
This is the photo he sent me last night as a joke.
He wrote, "It's not that bad!"
.
.
This is a photo I took in the mirror on Wednesday night!!!!
Yeah... HA! It was that bad!
.
Like I said... by Thursday the long-hair look was out. But then the client decided they didn't want my character to have any character.... um... I mean... any "gray hair" at all.
So on Friday morning the day of the shoot, I was back in the chair getting my hair dyed... dark brown!!!! And they used permanent hair color. (There was a reason for that. Not a great reason, but a reason.)
Gotta tell you... on camera it read just fine. In real life, I looked like a fucking idiot.
Now I've gotta tell you.... if I would be concerned about changing my appearance for the sake of a character, then I would be in the wrong damned business. So, I really don't mind this stuff. I have fun with it.
I just wish they hadn't used the PERMANENT shit!
I mean, maybe it's just me. But I've earned every line in my face and I've earned whatever gray hair I've got. And I just kinda feel like, when a man's face begins to acquire the map of the world and he dyes his hair to ostensibly "look" younger... it just doesn't match. It just looks false and... well just false. Just silly.
But... maybe that's just me.
Just to be clear -- it's not at all about what I looked like.... but rather who I looked like. I'm just not the kind of man who dyes his hair to "look" like somebody he's not. (Does that make sense?)
ANYWAY, my friend Laura Manske suggested I get this stuff that smells like hell and basically removes permanent color with the power of a nuclear reactor. She brought the shit over yesterday and after an entire afternoon of trying...
I think I'm back to normal.
UY!

.
BUT! I'm really jazzed that the commercial should start airing soon. I'll let you guys know when to look for it. It's just kind of the "fun" stuff in my work and it pays the bills for a while.
OKAY!!!!

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
