We're gonna have a concert in a few weeks to welcome the new season.
Now I know a lot of you check in here every day from different parts of the country and different parts of the world. But if you're here in New York City, chances are you're stopping by to see if I might be heading out to Central Park for an afternoon of music and laughs.
Y'know?
I rrreeeeeeeaaaalllllyyy wish I could!
But ever since the year 2000 when Park Administrator Doug Blonsky came up with a wonderful way of doing things, I've abided by the Parks Department's issuance of the Special Events Permits to do what I've done out there for the past 18 years.
So... no. I won't be singin' in the park today.
I put the paperwork in and sent the checks for the application fees and whatnot. I did that last December. So they've got the applications and the money. But we won't begin seeing those permits until May. (Besides, I can't get the Sound Device Permit from the NYPD until I get the proper permits from the Parks Department.)
.
I know. I know.
But it won't be long.

AND HEY!!! WE'VE GOT A CONCERT RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!!!
It feels like a long ways away, but it's right around the corner...
FRIDAY NIGHT -- APRIL 30th
Since the concert is on a FRIDAY night, I have a feeling this one is gonna sell-out in advance. So start thinking about it or just go ahead and make sure you've got yours.
FRIDAY NIGHT -- APRIL 30th

The Leonard Nimoy Thalia

I'm gonna be with most of the kids in the band like I was at the "Year End" gig last December.

Wanna have a few smiles today for absolutely no reason at all?
Let me share a few moments with you from "The Something'th Annual Year-End Concert". This past December, I got to share a stage again with some of the most talented, generous, sweetest, open-hearted, genuinely coolest artists on the planet.... people I am also lucky enough to call "friends".

Do me a favor.
You know somebody who might be suffering from a little Spring fever? If you had a laugh or even a smile watching this video, wouldja pass it on to a friend or two?
.
Hey listen...
All of you who've been coming around here, whether in met you in Central Park, or if you've been to any one of the sold-out shows in Merkin Concert Hall, or if I met you at the Sunset Concert Series downtown, or if I met you in the Turks & Caicos Islands or in Germany or anywhere else I've played...
You all now how much I love doing what I do with my Life. I'm the kind of man who, even when I'm in a room by myself... I like the company.
It's wonderful feeling to know who you are and what you're meant to be doing in this world.
If you're new around here, you might wanna start wit this little gallery of photos from last summer which were shot my Laura Manske and others that lots of people have sent in to the website.
As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
