I just got back to town!!!! Got some fun video further down near the bottom of this update. Have fun if you're new around here.
Y'know? I love heading south every winter with this extraordinary group of people... to share a week of music and laughs in the Sun. This year was no exception. Seriously. But, besides being another great gig, it turned out to be a week of really significant self-awareness and, hopefully, growth.
Got top share my stage with some wonderful artists. Got to tell some stories. Got to let a few people know that they are not alone. Had a LOT of laughs with some great people.
Very cool.
.
And the whole gig was very... y'know, island-ee.
Jammin' at "Sharkies" every afternoon
HEY! If you're checkin' in here and you were with me on Providenciales, email me your photos. Maybe we'll post them here at the site.
Thanks!
But, still... every time I go on the road, even for a short amount of time, I get so jazzed about coming back to New York City, back to my little hometown, back to one of the most amazing places on the face on the earth, back tot he place where I'm known as "That Guitar Man".
.
.
ANYWAY!
Today is President's Day!
Well, HAPPY PRESIDENT'S DAY!
Y'know, years ago when February rolled around here in The States we celebrated the birthdays of 2 truly great men... George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. These men were achieved the office of President of the United States and did the best they could for country and humankind.
These days, it's called President's Day.
(Really a shame that it now seems to include an unAmerican horse's ass like George W. Bush.)
Still... because of the new title, we get to include some of the most popular American presidents who don't have a day. I mean, I think it's great that we all get to remember men like these... 2 of my favorite president's.
. This president and... um... uh... y'know, this guy.
(Email me if you can identify them.)
And, of course, here's a guy who I used to party with back in the day... President Ulysses S. Grant. ("Yools" - "Yoolie" - or "Doctor Yool-little" we all used to call him.) This guy was a guaranteed great time.
Okay... NOW!!!!
Welcome to the website today! Do you want to get together again for an "indoor" event before the Summer?
It'll be a good way to get us through the winter and say, "Hey Spring! how about it!?" And a way for me to say THANK YOU to every single one of you who've showed up in Central Park over the last year.... or the last 18 years for that matter. It's hard for me to believe that I've been making music, sharing my songs, my thoughts and my Life with all of you for an entire generation here in this great town. I have probably played my songs now for hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people.
It's very cool.
I mean, but this time of year... seriously. Winter just seems to drag on and on some days, doesn't it?
Just kinda thinkin' about the possibility of doing another BIG concert at Merkin Concert Hall.... a kind of a kick off Spring gig in about 8 weeks.
You wanna?
We had such an amazing time together in that great room! Me and the other guys in the core four along with Teresa and Dave and Cenovia and Chris. I was talking with Kara of The G.I.G. Foundation and she thinks... yeah. We oughta do it.
Maybe I'll also do a smaller, kind of solo gig... something much smaller before then, too.
If you're new around here, you might wanna start wit this little gallery of photos from last summer which were shot my Laura Manske and others that lots of people have sent in to the website.
Wanna have a few smiles today for absolutely no reason at all?
Let me share a few moments with you from "The Something'th Annual Year-End Concert". This past December, I got to share a stage again with some of the most talented, generous, sweetest, open-hearted, genuinely coolest artists on the planet.... people I am also lucky enough to call "friends".

Do me a favor.
Help somebody shake the mid-winter blues. If you had a laugh or even a smile watching this video, wouldja pass it on to a friend or two?
As always... you guys know that most of the time, I'm in a state of constant amazement, wonder and gratitude.
Damn! I'm a fan.
I mean, seriously... Look at some of the artists I get to work with on a regular basis.
. . . . Teresa Reynolds, George Wurzbach, Christine Lavin, Nelson Montana, David Marcus, Ryan Cavan, Chris Tedescon, Cenovia Cummins... amazing...
Damn!
I write songs and I sing them for people. Sometimes to make a point.
In my own faltering and completely imperfect way I get to write songs about whatever is on my mind and in my heart. I try to write songs to let the next guy know he's not alone, to touch someone's heart, to make somebody think or to help someone laugh...
We like to laugh around here... A LOT!!!
Thank you all for the phenomenal time we had at Merkin Concert Hall this past December. Here's a little tiny clip from the "This Year's Question" section:
There's a lot more of this video. What a great time we had at that gig! I'll post some more laughs and some songs soon.
Be nice to each other today. I'LL BE BACK TOMORROW
Love you all.
(no kiddin'.)

PEACE

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
