Man!

I had an email experience yesterday... here at the website.

I'll tell you all about it without naming names. But, it was a real demonstration of why I named one of my recent albums "I Love the Company". (Tell you about it further down the page.)

.

FIRST... I wanna thank you all for showing up here. It's is sooooo cool to hear from so many people who not only live in New York City, but who also check in here from across the country and from different parts of the world.

Here in New York...

SAVE THIS DATE!!!

Thursday night, March 4th.

One week from this Thursday night!!!!

HOPEFULLY I'LL BE ABLE TO ANNOUNCE WHEN THE TICKETS ARE GOING ON SALE.... A LITTLE LATER TODAY!

This is gonna be a whole lot different than the concert at Merkin Hall last December. There are only 154 seats in this theater as opposed to 500. So, it's gonna be a very cool night and the "It's Just Us" vibe is gonna be real. We'll do some singing, some storytelling and we'll have a few laughs.

In a week and a half from now. So, start telling the friends you'd like to bring to this thing.

TODAY!

Just to lift your spirits a little... click on this video.

And here are a couple of videos from "The Something'th Annual Year End Concert" at Merkin Concert Hall last December!

If you're new around here, you should know that I consider myself the luckiest man alive. Y'know? When I say that, it is my sincere hope that every single person reading this feels that way most of the time in their own lives.

I guess it's just my own way of "paying attention" -- my own way of staying in a state of constant amazement, wonder and gratitude... just to be alive!

Damn! I'm a fan.

I mean, seriously... Look at some of the artists I get to work with on a regular basis.

. . . .
Teresa Reynolds, George Wurzbach, Christine Lavin, Nelson Montana, David Marcus, Ryan Cavan, Chris Tedescon, Cenovia Cummins... amazing...

Damn!

I write songs and I sing them for people.

In my own faltering and completely imperfect way I get to write songs about whatever is on my mind and in my heart. I try to write songs to let the next guy know he's not alone, to touch someone's heart, to make somebody think or to help someone laugh...

Sometimes to make a point.

Y'know? The vast majority of email I get when I ask for comments regarding a new song or a particular issue are positive and supportive. But, even the negative messages that come from people with contrary points of view are sometimes respectful and thoughtful. But, I got one yesterday that is illustrative of the climate in this country as it pertains to those with an avidly right-wing mindset... of people who... oh fuck it... people who are obviously FOX News watchers.

(Man! They really buy the bullshit that's constantly hammered into their poor heads, to the point that it skews reality and it seems they can't absorb a genuine or rational thought or feeling.)

It's really fascinating.

I asked all of you here in New York City, and across the country, and in different parts of the world to send me comments about THIS UPDATE when I was feeling deep sadness at the lack of basic principle in our government and the Obama administration's refusal to hold law breakers and war criminals accountable in our own house. I feel it's sad and disgraceful.

Well, about 1 out of every 12 emails I received was actually a negative response to the update, for various reasons.

So, I chose one representative comment to post among the 11 that I made public on the site the next day.

Then yesterday, I received an angry, angry email from an angry, angry person who accused me of only posting comments from "kiss-assers" who agree with me, hypocrisy, one-sidedness, then went on about Health Care, the war in Afghanistan, name-calling, Photoshop... and ultimately... Ha! I don't even think the fool listened to the song he was railing against.

I continually find it fascinating. And I continue to be on such a learning curve when it comes to human nature it fills me with wonder.

BUT!

I feel really good about the people I call my audience.... my friends -- even those who disagree with me, respectfully and rationally.

I do.

Thank you.

.

.

Okay, guys...

Keep smiling. KEEP HOPE ALIVE. Keep being cool to each other. But, more importantly... make today count.

And check back about the upcoming concert.

.

.

PEACE

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
