So...

Hope's the year been going for you so far?

Good I hope.

On the other side of the holiday season I just can't help myself from letting my thoughts drift once in a while to starting up the music in Central Park again in the springtime.

.

HEY! I just got the word! I was asked to do that gig in the Turks & Caicos Islands again this year!

(whew!)

I really love goin' on this thing every year. There's a guy named Steve from the West Coast who does a really cool thing, assembling a whole bunch of beautiful people every year for a different get-away in the Sun, to places like Ixtapa Mexico or Guadeloupe or The Turks & Caicos Islands. I guess me and my guitar have made music for this particular group of people every year for the past 6 or 7 years. Every year I'm never really sure if I'm going to be asked back again, so it's always a really cool surprise when it comes around. (I have to admit, I was a little bit unsure about this year... and didn't realize how much I would have missed it until I got the call asking me to go along.)

Does that make any sense?

.

.

ANYWAY! That's not until the second week in February. So, I'm hoping I'll be able to let you guys in on the plans for some more, bigger musical events here in New York City this winter.

We just wrapped up last year witha really fun "Year End Concert" at Merkin cincert Hall again. (I love playing that venue and so do the kids in the band!)

If you missed it, James Marino - - my good friend, webmaster, and the evil genius of this website fed a LIVE stream of the concert to the entire world. (It was a first-time attempt to see what's possible with this kind of thing and we've learned a lot from the experience.) I heard from people in different parts of the country, from people here in New York city who couldn't make it to the show in person, and from people as far away as London and Stockholm. That's.... very cool.

But since this was an experiment, this might be a little buggy. It took some time to crank it up and so the beginning of the concert is missing. And the audio timed out for about 20 minutes right in the middle of the show. (During Teresa Reynold's solo, George Wurzbach's "I'm God" and my song from the new album "Some Wounds Never Heal")

Dammit!

But, most of the show is here.

I'll be back with clips of those missing sections later this week.

In the meantime, ENJOY the gig!!! (Make a cup of coffee or pour yourself a drink. the video is about 2 and half hours long!)

And...

I'll just leave you here today to start off the new year with a couple of my favorite memories from 2009.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
