Welcome to the website for the first time this year.

Since the very first day I ever put my guitar on my shoulder and began playing my songs in Central Park, I've said these 2 words thousands of times...

.

THANK YOU

.

.

And, I've meant them sincerely every single time.

But...

Y'know?

I have 2 more words for this next lap around the Sun.

And by "All New" I mean... all new everything.

Now, I never l know what's around the corner. None of us do. I always say that I'm making my life up as I go along. But, that feels even truer at this moment in my Life.

I have been "That Guitar Man from Central Park" for 18 years.

Will I be out in Central Park again in 2010?

I honestly don't know. I hope so. I think so. I'm gonna go ahead and put in the paperwork and send in the money for the permits anyway. But, the permit office has been kinda weird the past 2 or 3 years. And our little jewel of a location in the park (The place we've all been calling "The Hill") has been renovated and altered with new benches and slight changes to the topography. So, who knows?

Listen... I'm not going away.

I'm not leaving New York City. And I hope I'm never gonna stop making music as long as I've got a breath in me and something to say. But, we'll just hafta see how the wind blows and I'll just sail along with it.

Maybe it's time to move to a new medium like radio or television. Maybe it's just time to approach some of the old things that we love which still work with a "new" attitude. Maybe it's time to approach the people in the permit office in a new way. I don't know. I certainly want a year with almost 0 hassles or 0 anxiety... and I want 2010 to be the most exciting and fulfilling year yet, Creatively and musically.

So... we'll see.

I'll just leave you here today to start off the new year with a couple of my favorite memories from 2009.

And a bunch of memories from...

The Allie Corps, the young models, HOT DOG DAY... oh hell, just another typically amazing year in Central Park!

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
