Okay... welcome to the website for a stretch of daylight we're calling Tuesday. I wanna start talking to you guys about "the next thing".

First, as always, THANK YOU to every single one of you who've showed up in Central Park over the last year.... or the last 18 years for that matter. It's hard for me to believe that I've been making music, sharing my songs, my thoughts and my Life with all of you for an entire generation here in this great town. I have probably played my songs now for hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people.

But y'know?

I hafta start today's update by addressing the subjects of both BEAUTY (...the very best thing that human beings are capable of creating)

... and then things that are SHOCKING!!!

SHOCK ...I SAY!

Well...

Two things happened yesterday that were so shocking and unbelievable that I just don't know how reasonable, sane people are handling it!

Yesterday, Mark McGwire told us that back when he began to look like a balloon in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade... he was actually USING STEROIDS to a baseball from one county to another on a regular basis.

(Next thing y'know... somebody will suggest that Balloon-Boy Barry Bonds was doing the same thing on his way to breaking the home run record!)

Now that ex-beauty contestant, ex- governor, ex-co-author, ex-vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has wrapped her "book" tour... I guess like everybody else I was wondering what in the world she might be able to do to make a buck for herself. I mean all that hypocritical religous fervor; all that fear-mongering; all that perkiness...

SHOCKED!

Okay, back to reality.

I love you guys. I love my life. I really dig sharing my music with Good people of reason.

Let's keep hope alive!

I was asked one time by a good friend, "David, what do you want to do? In the best of all possible worlds, what would you like to do with your music and your Life?"

This was my answer:

"I'd like to do exactly what I'm doing right now. I'd like to live the same way and write the same songs. I'd like to do the same writing, ask the same questions, make the same kinds of statements, and keep in touch with the good people who visit my website nearly every day. I'd like to continue to work with the same beautiful, generous, fun artists I work with now. Essentially I'd like to do exactly what I'm doing today...

...I'd just like to do it for a few million more people."

Well, I've kinda got an idea. I'm gonna tell you all about it very soon.

I promise.

I just wanna say thanks again for another typically amazing year in 2009. (But, THIS lap around the Sun is gonna be even more amazing... I can quietly feel it deep inside.)
