Welcome to the website. Hey, I know with all my heart that this life is not something to be endured or survived. It's not a problem to be solved... but a fascinating mystery to be lived.
AND, we keep on living honestly and out loud! And this Saturday night we're gonna laugh as much as we sing at the big concert in Merkin Concert Hall.
But, December 8th was a sad day for music, for New York City and for the world 29 years ago. This was when John Lennon was killed, just a stone's throw the place where I've been making music and we've all been hangin' out sharing laughs, thoughts, feelings and Love for the past 18 years.
I can't help but feel that had things been different and John was still among us, he'd have continued to be a powerful voice of Reason, Truth and Peace in this country at the times when we've needed it most. (I also think he would have really dug what we've been doing right across the street from his house all these years.)
Today's a good day to listen to some of the music that he wrote.
And y'know? I don't think it's too, too arrogant of me to think that if he ever did walk across the street to "The Hill", he might have liked songs like "Crazy on the Same Day" and "Common Ground" and "Resolution". Hell... who knows? We might have really gotten along. I've been playing in his backyard.
Someone who knew John pretty well (Sid Bernstein, who will be at our concert this coming Saturday night) said he has 2 favorite songs of all time - - John's classic "Imagine"...
...and a song I wrote called "Next Time Around".
We'll all just hafta sing it this Saturday night.
MAN!!!! I hope you got your tickets for the concert this Saturday night!
There are still about 125 tickets left and there truly isn't a bad seat in the house. But you might as well try to call the Merkin Concert Hall box office today or tomorrow.

But now it's time to kick the year in the ass as it heads out the door. And like I said, the man who brought The Beatles to America and a good friend of those boys, Mr. Sid Bernstein, is gonna be in the audience so we'll all be in the company of American music history.
And I'll be joined on stage by some of the most generous, open-hearted, talented, good people... really wonderful artists. George Wurzbach, Ryan Cavan, Nelson Montana, Dave Marcus, Chris Tedesco and Cenovia Cummins.
.
You're not gonna wanna miss this one. The newcomer on stage this year is an amazing singer named Teresa Reynolds. AND!!!!
If you haven't done all your Christmas shopping, the brand new CD is gonna be on sale at the gig!
This new CD makes a great holiday gift.I mean, it's a uniquely New York gift and... well... it's rrreeeeaaallllllyyy easy to wrap!!!
'
Y'know, to really celebrate it's arrival we'll just make the "Year-End Concert" this week a kind of "release party" as well as the fun tradition that gig is every year! It's gonna be swell to get all the artists on stage with me to play this thing LIVE.
AND!!! Hit me through this website's CONTACT button and let me know where and when you saw this guy, okay?

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
