Well...

TODAY I'm gonna announce the winner of "The Sarah Palin Caption Contest". (Further down the page.)

First, I wanna thank every single one of you from across he country and around the world who submitted an idea. Some of them were hysterical. Some of them made a point or a statement. Some of them... um... made no sense at all as far as I can tell. But, they were all fun to receive!

And man! We had fun this year in Central Park, didn't we?

Now, it's time to really start gearing up for "The Something'th Annual Year End Concert". It's only a week and a half away!

But first!!!

Last night was a big night here in New York City! And I got to be a part of it!!!

(Kinda)

The Lighting of the
ROCKEFELLER CENTER CHRISTMAS TREE!

Okay...

.

Wanna know who's caption won the 6-CD set of music and the "Crazy on the Same Day" baseball cap?

Well, I'll tell you!

But first!
I need to get something off my chest. Besides being genuinely discouraged about President Obama's speech of 2 nights ago and his decision to escalate a conflict with no hope of achieving the unrealistic goals people have for that part of the world at this time in human history...

...his speech also pre-empted "A Charlie Brown Christmas"!!!!!!!!

And, this was the year they were going to show a scene that had previously been edited from the original. It's a scene in which a character called "That Guitar Man" makes Charlie Brown feel better about his choice of a tree.

Okay...

This was the contest!

Write your own caption for "A Palin Thanksgiving"

Thanks to everyone who sent in an idea! They were all really appreciated and many of them could have been selected as the winner on any given day. This one just seemed to jump onto the image.

THE WINNER IS...

.

(I have to admit... this entry was aided by the fact that Dick Cheney has recently cemented my opinion that he is clearly out of his fucking mind!)
.

The caption was sent in by Peter Lavery. (I'm thinking he's one of the insane people in that Room 2010.) Peter, shoot me an email and let me know how to get you the prizes!

Peter gets a 6-CD set of music (The People on the Hill, It's Just Us, Common Ground, I Love the Company, Crazy on the Same Day and the latest, Wouldn't Want It Any Other Way) and a "Crazy on the Same Day" baseball hat.

Now...

THE CONCERT

Now the gig is only 9 days away.

This year we'll be doing a whole bunch of new songs from the latest album, and I'll be joined on stage by some of the most generous, open-hearted, talented, good people... really wonderful artists. George Wurzbach, Ryan Cavan, Nelson Montana, Dave Marcus, Chris Tedesco and Cenovia Cummins. Folk-legend, Christine Lavin is gonna be in the house and will probably jump in on a few things. The man who brought The Beatles to America, Mr. Sid Bernstein, is gonna be in the audience so we'll all be in the company of American music history. AND... we laugh as much as we sing at these gigs.

.

You're not gonna wanna miss this one. This year it's on a SATURDAY NIGHT - - December 12th.

This year we're also gonna be joined on stage by newcomer, the beautiful and talented Teresa Reynolds.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
- Dean
