Hey! Last night was actually very cool.

If you're showing up here for the first time because I met you last night.... WELCOME to the site. You're definitely gonna wanna bookmark this page and check back every day. We do a lot of fun stuff around here.

Too bad the summer season is over. No hangin' out with my guitar in Central Park these days. BUT.... we've got the big year-end concert comin' up. (More about that in a minute.)

.

.

TODAY... a couple of things. We've got a new "Photoshop Gallery" and a new "Video Gallery". And there are 2 ways that you can get your tickets for the concert on December 12th.

YES! The box office is open today so you can call directly to get tickets for "The Something'th Annual Year End Concert" or you can get them online a little further down the page! AND the "Sarah Palin Caption Contest" is still going on!!!!

Had a great time at Jim Caruso's CAST PARTY down at Birdland. I hadn't been there in way too long.

He started off the night with a series of "Forbidden Broadway" numbers. Various cast members were in the house to celebrate the release of a new book. I"m gonna be back a a little later today or tomorrow with a special comment about the "Forbidden Broadway cast, so check back in just a little while.

But, the whole thing was fun last night. Great way to kick off Thanksgiving Week.

Looking forward to this year's "Thanksgiving Day Parade". Although, when you watch it on television now, it's really not very parade-like. I mean, years ago it was like watching a parade with an occasional musical number by a Broadway Show or some celbrity as they were rolling by. Now, it feels like one lip-synched promo after another, all lined up like a big string of poorly done commercials.

It's still fun, though because THEN... of course I always like to make the choice for the year's WTF moment of the parade.

Like LAST YEAR!!!

This was it!

This was the "What the F*ck!" moment.

The cartoon network had a float for a new children's series about imaginary friends. As a musical surprise, they began singing the theme song from an old, old, old TV show called "The Courtship of Eddie's Father". And then, out of nowhere...

...WTF!?

I would LOVE to meet the person who's mind oput that together and hear the process as it unfolded.

Moving on!

Oh hey... TODAY! (This afternoon? Evening?)

I don't know. Jimmy Buffett is playing the Garden tonight and right across the street at Brother Jimmy's I was asked to sit in on a set by the beautiful and talented Cassandra Kubinski. So, we're gonna jam at around 5:00. So, if you're heading to the Buffett show, or if your gonna be in the area.... the music is actually gonna kick off at 2:00 in the afternoon with various independent artists. Cassie and I crank up at 5:00. Oughta be fun.

We've got our own musical tradition coming up. Since I've been "That Guitar Man from Central Park" this is something we've done here in New York City every December for... um... I don't know how many years. Which is why it's called...

"The Something'th Annual Year End Concert"

THE CONCERT

I am the luckiest man on earth to be able to do what I do for a living. I mean, I write songs and I sing them for people. I can always tell people, "You can know that you're doing what you're meant to be doing because.... it just feels Good, with a capital G." And you guys have made me "That Guitar Man from Central Park" for 18 years now. Very under-the-radar. What a gig! What a Life! Thank you!

At the end of every lap around the Sun we get together and kick the year in the ass as it heads out the door in a great music venue near Lincoln Center... Merkin Concert Hall in the Kaufman Center.

This year we'll be doing a whole bunch of new songs from the latest album, and I'll be joined on stage by some of the most generous, open-hearted, talented, good people... really wonderful artists. George Wurzbach, Ryan Cavan, Nelson Montana, Dave Marcus, Chris Tedesco and Cenovia Cummins. Folk-legend, Christine Lavin is gonna be in the house and will probably jump in on a few things. The man who brought The Beatles to America, Mr. Sid Bernstein, is gonna be in the audience so we'll all be in the company of American music history. AND... we laugh as much as we sing at these gigs.

.

You're not gonna wanna miss this one. This year it's on a SATURDAY NIGHT - - December 12th.

You can call the box office today between noon and 7:00

212-501-3330

This year we're also gonna be joined on stage by newcomer, the beautiful and talented Teresa Reynolds.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
