Y'know?

I have been making music as "That Guitar Man from Central Park" for an entire generation. And for exactly that long I have been watching the weather radar imagery like a damned farmer! (I've actually gotten pretty good at it.)

So, tomorrow?

We'll see. But, I feel that this weather front is going to move through the New York area late today, through tonight and early tomorrow morning. But, I think it will move completely out of our area by tomorrow afternoon.

If that's the case then... YES!!!

I will put my guitar on my shoulder and head out to share another afternoon of music and laughs with you guys.

Okay, but again.... we're not gonna be at the usual location. The Parks Department is restoring the area we call "The Hill" this season. I'm told by Nelson Nicholas of Operations that we'll be back there next year for sure.

So, for tomorrow and the few weekends we have left in October, we'll be over on the other side of The Lake in the location I like to call "The Away Game". Y'know? I've gotten a whole lot more comfortable there as the weeks went on.... mostly because of all the warmth of the beautiful people from this town, from across the country and around the world, who hung out with me in that part of New York City's big backyard!

Okay, so it look like another season is coming to an end.

But, there's always something to look forward to. Like, the yearly tradition at Merkin Concert Hall that we like to call "THE SOMETHING'TH ANNUAL YEAR-END CONCERT". And if you're a regular here at the website, you get the inside coop on tickets.

They went on sale YESTERDAY! I know it's early, but you might wanna think about telling your friends and grabbing your seats sooner than later this year. Y'see, starting in mid-November I'm planning a TV ad campaign on Comedy Central during The Daily Show...

THE TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW!!!!!!

Click on the banner to get an early jump on the best seats!

This year along with George Wurzbach and Dave Marcus, you guys are gonna get to hang with some wonderful artists... Janet Kirker, Nelson Montana, a few surprise guests, and the beautiful and talented Teresa Reynolds.

Seriously, you're NOT gonna wanna miss this. (More about it as it gets closer.)

*******

Okay...

Listen, if you're new around here you might not know what I'm all about.

Yes, I write Love songs, and funny songs, songs about romance and sex, y'know... songs about Life.

Music is most often a mirror to reflect the world around the songwriter. But, it can also at time be a hammer to help shape the world around us. The important thing is to try to get through the crap and get inside to touch "the better angles of our nature". I've learned that if I aim for the intellect, I run smack into a brick wall nearly every time. But, if I aim at the heart I often find a secret passage. And, if I aim for the funnybone... I sometimes find a side door.

So, if you wanna see some of the sweet, fuzzy video from the past few weeks in Central Park, hit the Archive button and check out many of the updates from the last 4 or 5 weeks or so.

But today I wanna give you a few of these to check out. Here are 3 videos, which I urge you guys to pass along to all your friends and family across the country and around the world. I also hope you eventually take a little time to leave a comment of your own on YouTube. (You kids are crazy for the YouTube. Are you lovin' the YouTube? Are you crazy for the YouTube?)

Y'see, as an American singer/songwriter part of my job description is "to comfort the disturbed... and disturb the comfortable." As a free-thinking man who is politically a registered Independent, it's a swell place for me to write songs that speak to reason, principle and basic human decency with nearly complete disregard for partisan politics.

But, there are some buffoons in the political punditry that are just... well, I would say assholes or twinkies. But, let's just say they're fun material for a couple of hooky songs.

.

Still...

Some subjects are not material for making fun. Please check out this video. I'm not letting this go! Here's a brand new version of a music video that nearly 11,000 people have already checked out.

Why? Because torture is wrong. It's morally repugnant. And, uh... um.... IT'S ILLEGAL!

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed... it's the only thing that ever has."

Back to the music!!!

THE NEW ALBUM IS HERE AND YOU CAN GET IT RIGHT NOW!

The webmaster of this site, James Marino, posted that convenient link at the top of this page on the left for you to order the CD right now. (I'll let you know the minute the individual tracks are available on itunes as well.)

'

I'm gonna try to figure out a way to really celebrate it's arrival. Maybe we'll just make the "Year-End Concert" in December a kind of "release party" as well as the fun tradition that gig is every year! It's gonna be swell to get all the artists on stage with me to play this thing LIVE.

Here are A few 2-minute clips from the CD:

KEEP HOPE ALIVE

MARY LEARNS TO FLY

ANY OTHER WAY

Okay...

I'll definitely be back here tomorrow with another new update. Keep checkin' back, okay? If you're new around here, or if you're checking in from a different part of the country or a different part of the world, take a few minutes (or hours) to browse through the ARCHIVE. Lotsa cool shit in there.

Keep showing up guys.

And, I hope you guys here in NYC are already thinking about the friends with which you're gonna share the "Year-End Concert" - SATURDAY NIGHT, DECEMBER 12TH. (Yeah, it's a long way off. But this is gonna be a special one this year!)

See you tomorrow.

Thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
