Oh man!

Well, welcome to the website. Got a new Photoshop image for you guys today. Got some ideas about this site and what to do around here this winter to make it more fun for everybody who's checking in around the planet and in different parts of this country.

TODAY here in New York City I'm lookin' out the window and at the radar and this weather's lookin' pretty, damned sucky for two reasons...

ONE, It's looking more and more like our "outdoor" season is over for 2009. (But, thanks for another typically amazing year!)

.
.

AND TWO.... I'm supposed to be heading up to Yankee Stadium tonight to catch Game One of the ALCS against the Angels.

But it's all cool.

We've got each other here at the site. And we've got that yearly tradition coming up in December - "The Something'th Annual Year End Concert". (More about that further down the page.)

First things first...

The new Photoshop image.

NO!

First, a feel-good video. (Okay, this is not a song that I wrote! But, when I did this cover tune out in Central Park this past September 7th, look what the hell broke out in the middle of the most magnificent city on the planet!)

Laura Manske caught this moment in video. I also like to make the point that if you're hanging out with me in the middle of New York City, there is no better place on earth to sing, dance and just be yourself... true to yourself... FREE! Free to enjoy this amazing Life. I started the song, and this is what happened...

THEN!!!

You wanna make someone smile!? Send them the link for this video! Send it to everyone you know! It's just a feel-good moment caught on video and that's contagious!

Had to get that one the site before this new image.

Y'see, one of the things I'm thinking about doing here at the site is making several separate pages that are devoted specifically to the more socially-conscious and politically aware songs and videos. (It's actually part of my job description as an American singer/songwriter to write songs and speak out about things that "comfort the disturbed... and disturbed the comfortable.) I'm also thinkin' about making these actually updates into 5 minute videos instead of all this typing an reading, typing and reading!

And, once in a while I'm going to continue to really take a hard look and shine the brightest little light I can on people who are doing genuine harm, not only to this country, but to the world and the whole Universe... all at the same time. (Those of you who really know me know why I make a statement like that.) Damn! And you can usually find them all in one place!!! Isn't THAT convenient.)

FOX - BRINGING YOU "MOANERS, LEECHES & MAD HATTERS"

Y'know, ssshhhhh.... don't tell anyone. I'm guessing at least two out of three of these spiritually-bankrupt, shallow-minded people can't even stand the sight of each other!

Glenn Beck & Bill O'Reilly

I hate to mix such negative things into a website that is all about music, and laughs, and Love, and that "It's Just Us" feeling. I wish I didn't have to pay attention to vacant people in this country... but, I guess we all have to at times.

And so, I'm sorry I have to do this again. But, Liz Cheney has been making the rounds on national television again declaring that it's okay for the United States government to abandon basic human decency in our name, and it's okay for people like them to break our laws with impunity, and it's morally acceptable to torture another human being using fear and cowardice as justification.

Well, none of those things is okay with me. It's not a left/right thing. It's not a political thing. If you're a human being who has even a nodding acquaintance with a humanity and a respect for the principles upon which this nation was founded, you should be outraged.

PLEASE, hit this link.... watch the video one more time right up until you read the credits at the very end. Then, leave a comment and be sure to forward the link to about 10 more people you want to touch wit the message in the song. PLEASE pass it on to every single person you know in this country and around the world. (Even those people who condone the use of torture for the sake of their own security.)

Go to YouTube and leave a comment.

OKAY!!!!

SHAKE IT OFF!!!!

(Ew! I know. I know. Paying attention to that kind of stuff can be a little disquieting. But, when you feel like you just can't do it.... I'll do it for you, okay? Just keep showing up as often as you can.)

NOW! BACK TO THE MUSIC AND THE LOVE AND THE PEOPLE WHO "GET IT"!

Let's just start looking forward to "The Something'th Annual Year End Concert" in about 8 weeks.

I can tell you this. some of the guys in the band are already kickin' around some ideas for some of the songs we'll e playing this year. George has a couple of great ideas for cover tunes that everyone on the theater might be able to jam on. and of course, we'll be playing a bunch of new songs from the new album. (Don't know which ones yet!)

Here are A few 2-minute clips from the CD:

KEEP HOPE ALIVE

MARY LEARNS TO FLY

ANY OTHER WAY

And here's a completely FREE song to download. (I'm just in the mood.)

Here's the 2009 version of a crowd favorite.

TOM CRUISE SCARES ME

This year we'll be doing a whole bunch of new songs from the latest album, and I'll be joined on stage by favorites George Wurzbach and Dave Marcus. Gonna be a blast!

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
