Seems to me I got some bad information at the beginning of the season!
I walked over to "The Hill" yesterday to see how the progress was coming along, and how close we were to the return to the spot we've been hangin' out in for the past bunch of years. I kinda of expected to see the new paths, the new benches and the chance to move back there.... maybe this weekend.
But, when I got there I saw this! (Click for the larger image.)
And this... Click for larger images
The entire lawn was dug up. The whole thing is currently a fenced off hill of dirt and grass seed. Now, I don't know what was goin' on when we were told that in September we'd be returning to "The Hill" near Hernshead after the construction was done. But it sure don't look like that right now.
So... TOMORROW!
I'll see you guys at "The Away Game".

It's gonna a picture perfect day here in New York City. And since it's a holiday weekend, I think I'm gonna do something a little bit special tomorrow.
I made a map for you to print out so it will be easy for you guys to get there!

I played there years ago. It's a great location and you guys will really, really enjoy the view.
So if you're not heading outta town, plan on spending the afternoon with me and a few hundred of my closest friends. If you've been anxious to get a copy of the new album "Wouldn't Want It Any Other Way", ask me about it tomorrow in the park.
I'm gonna try to figure out a way to really celebrate it's arrival. Maybe we'll just make the "Year-End Concert" in December a kind of "release party" as well as the fun tradition that gig is every year! It's gonna be swell to get all the artists on stage with me to play this thing LIVE.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed... it's the only thing that ever has."
I hate to mix such negative things into a website that is all about music, and laughs, and Love, and that "It's Just Us" feeling. I wish I didn't have to pay attention to evil people in this country... but, I guess we all have to at times.
And so, I'm sorry I have to do this again. But, Dick Cheney and his daughter have been making the rounds on national television again declaring that it's okay for the United States government to abandon basic human decency in our name, and it's okay for people like them to break our laws with impunity, and it's morally acceptable to torture another human being using fear and cowardice as justification.
Well, none of those things is okay with me.
PLEASE, hit this link.... watch the video one more time right up until you read the credits at the very end. Then, leave a comment and be sure to forward the link to about 10 more people you want to touch wit the message in the song. PLEASE pass it on to every single person you know in this country and around the world. (Even those people who condone the use of torture for the sake of their own security.)
Hope I see you out in the park tomorrow. I'll be back tomorrow with another new update. Keep checkin' back, okay? If you're new around here, or if you're checking in from a different part of the country or a different part of the world, take a few minutes (or hours) to browse through the ARCHIVE. Lotsa cool shit in there.
Keep showing up guys.
And, I hope you guys here in NYC are already thinking about the friends with which you're gonna share the "Year-End Concert". (Yeah, it's a long way off. but this is gonna be a special one this year!)
See you tomorrow.
Thanks again.
All outdoor events are weather permitting! Stop by the website before you go if it is questionable.

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
