Hey...

Welcome to all of you who are checking in here from different parts of the country and different parts of the world. Y'know, I really appreciate the number of you who keep in touch through this website, and I'm really so grateful for every sweet comment that comes in about the songs I write. (I even dig the occasional hate-mail from the more political songs!)

Yeah, if I don't get a message from a riled-up nincompoop once in a while, I figure I'm not doin' my job.

But anyway, the weather's lookin' a little rainy for the next few days here in NYC, but I think the weekend's gonna be.... perfect. I'm already lookin' forward to this Saturday in Central Park.

Were you out there with me two weeks ago?

HERE'S A LINK TO A PAGE WITH SOME FUN VIDEO FROM THAT DAY.

. .

Well...

Heading back out there this Saturday. (September 19th)

We had a golden day a few weeks ago. And it seems that every day I get a chance to put my guitar on my shoulder and share some music and laughs with all of you turns into something typically amazing.

If you've been hangin' out with me over the years, you know where I traditionally play and sing. but, we're not there this year because of a major restoration project. So, we're at a location I call "The Away Game". If you haven't been out there with us, don't worry. I made up a little map so you guys can find it easily. (Print it out and bring it to the park with you.)

AND!!! I'll have the new CD with me!

The new album is here and I have a feeling you're really gonna dig the new songs. (Hope so anyway.) And yes... I finally had to put "Tom Cruise Scares Me" on an album! (More about that in a minute.)

So yeah! This Saturday.... the weather forecast?

But like I said, the last time we were together in the park it turned into just another golden day. NEVERMIND I completely forgot it was also "Hot Dog Day".

On those kinds of days, y'never know what's gonna go down. At one point I started becoming aware that several strangers were sharing a birthday. One of them was a pretty young woman named Tiffany, who said she wished she could share the day with her twin sister in Jacksonville, Florida. So minutes later she got her sister, Kendall, on the phone and.... well, this is what happened.

So cool.

Listen, I know there are a lot of people checking in here this week for the first time from different parts of the country and different parts of the world. I'm gonna hafta post some of the other videos from last weekend here again.

First, the weddings!!!

.

.

...as well as a couple of videos for which I get a truckload of requests.

It's true.

Here are 3 videos, which I urge you guys to pass along to all your friends and family across the country and around the world. I also hope you eventually take a little time to leave a comment of your own on YouTube. (You kids are crazy for the YouTube. Are you lovin' the YouTube? Are you crazy for the YouTube?)

Y'see, as an American singer/songwriter part of my job description is "to comfort the disturbed... and disturb the comfortable." As a free-thinking man who is politically a registered Independent, it's a swell place for me to write songs that speak to reason, principle and basic human decency with nearly complete disregard for partisan politics.

But, there are some buffoons in the political punditry that are just... well, I would say assholes or twinkies. But, let's just say they're fun material for a couple of hooky songs.

.

Still...

Some subjects are not material for making fun.

Please check out this video. I'm not letting this go!

Why? Because torture is wrong. It's morally repugnant. And, uh... um.... IT'S ILLEGAL!

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed... it's the only thing that ever has."

And then...

YOUR THOUGHTS

Back to the music!!!

THE NEW ALBUM IS HERE AND YOU CAN GET IT RIGHT NOW!

The webmaster of this site, James Marino, posted that convenient link at the top of this page on the left for you to order the CD right now. (I'll let you know the minute the individual tracks are available on itunes as well.)

'

I'm gonna try to figure out a way to really celebrate it's arrival. Maybe we'll just make the "Year-End Concert" in December a kind of "release party" as well as the fun tradition that gig is every year! It's gonna be swell to get all the artists on stage with me to play this thing LIVE.

Here are A few 2-minute clips from the CD:

KEEP HOPE ALIVE

MARY LEARNS TO FLY

ANY OTHER WAY

Okay...

I'll definitely be back here tomorrow with another new update. Keep checkin' back, okay? If you're new around here, or if you're checking in from a different part of the country or a different part of the world, take a few minutes (or hours) to browse through the ARCHIVE. Lotsa cool shit in there.

Keep showing up guys.

And, I hope you guys here in NYC are already thinking about the friends with which you're gonna share the "Year-End Concert" - SATURDAY NIGHT, DECEMBER 12TH. (Yeah, it's a long way off. But this is gonna be a special one this year!)

See you in the park on Saturday!

Thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
