Y'know? I haven't been available to sit in the Songwriter's Circle down to The Red Lion in months. Got down there last night and I wanna say.... THANKS to every single one of you who showed up. (It was kinda fun to sing the new stuff, wasn't it?)
I'm already lookin' forward to gettin' back out to Central Park this coming Saturday. I rrreeeeeeaallllyyy miss hangin' out with you guys at "The Hill". Check back here all week. As soon as I know our location for the music next weekend, I'll let you know.
Listen....
I'm gonna be back in a little while with another update. For those of you here in New York City, I can tell you how you'll be able to pick up a copy of the new album in Central Park this Saturday. But for those of you in different parts of the country and different parts of the world, I might have some news a little later about the availability of the new CD, "Wouldn't Want It Any Other Way", here at the website and on itunes.
So listen, I know it feels like a long way off, but in regard to the "Year-End Concert" in December, I started sending out the word to all my fellow artists who had a part in the making of the new CD.
So far I've heard back from George Wurzbach, drummer Ryan Cavan and bass player Nelson Montana. Still gotta chck with a whole bunch of other artists. But, I think this is gonna be a very special night this year for a lot of reasons.
I'm gonna try to figure out a way to really celebrate it's arrival. Maybe we'll just make the "Year-End Concert" in December a kind of "release party" as well as the fun tradition that gig is every year! It's gonna be swell to get all the artists on stage with me to play this thing LIVE.
Saw Dick Cheney and his daughter, Liz, on different shows this Sunday, both defending the barbaric, repugnant, morally bankrupt, repulsive, unAmerican and grossly illegal practice of "torturing" a human being who might be an enemy of the United States.
They are both disgusting human beings.
But, one is probably going to run for office in this country and one is a criminal who should be going to trial.
Reasonable, Good people everywhere should be outraged and vocal about what this man did in our name.
Yes, it looks like Attorney General Eric Holder is sticking his toe in the water regarding an investigation into the practice of torture in this country and the violation of numerous laws by members of the Bush administration. But chances are, it's window dressing.
This cannot be viewed as legitimate or even be taken seriously unless we all put pressure on those at the Department of Justice to actually do their jobs and prosecute everyone who broke the law. The scope of this investigation cannot be narrow or limited. It cannot be window dressing for political expediency.
My message and feelings are all here in this song and music video.
PLEASE pass it on to every single person you know in this country and around the world. (Even those people who condone the use of torture for the sake of their own security.)
See you guys here at the site all week with anew update every day! If you're new around here, or if you're checking in from a different part of the country or a different part of the world, take a few minutes (or hours) to browse through the ARCHIVE. Lotsa cool shit in there.
.
Thanks for everything.

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
