Here at the website, got a BRAND NEW VIDEO for you today.
Now outside, here in NYC... okay it's a little bit cool start. The Sun is a little bit lower in the sky and the breeze whispers that the seasons are changing again.
I wouldn't think it could be possible because I always feel so lucky to do what I do. But at this time of year, my sense of gratitude for every single day I get to hang out with all of you in Central Park is just a little bit heightened. This past Tuesday signaled the official beginning of autumn in New York. But through the slightly cooler air, the Sun still feels warm and wonderful against the skin.
So, I'm headin' out to Central Park to put a guitar on my shoulder one more time.
See you out there? We'll be at "The Away Game".
What's the away game?
This season I've been hangin' out on the south-side of The Lake while they restore "The Hill" where I traditionally sing and play. Here's a map so you can find it easily. We're not in the usual place this summer. Here:

Now, today...
I'm thinkin' it's gonna be the first day that it feels like autumn has arrived, especially after the Sun slips behind the trees in the park and the cliffs of Central Park West. So, bring a sweater... or someone to warm up to.
Y'know? For those of you who are just checking in here for the first time, I wanna share that brand new clip and a few videos from the last week.
Here's another beautiful married couple who just happened upon us in the park. In those situations I always ask the newlyweds if they'd like to share their very first dance with the people of this town instead of doing all that usual and typical wedding-reception-first-dance-hoo-ha type of thing.
These two were happy to do something cool.

Listen...
If you enjoy this kinda thing, I'll be posting video all next week from today's hang in the park.
But if you're new around here... here are a couple more videos from last week. A couple of moments that happened spontaneously out there this past Saturday. At the top of the video, a young guy from London was shooting a video of his day in the park for his girl back home in the UK. We all thought we'd make it a little special for her.
But, THEN watch what happens!

Kinda cool, right!?
NEXT.... "The iPhone Moment Birthday Call"
Sometimes I say, "If somebody described to me what I do out there in the park... I probably wouldn't go!" I mean, it's tough to describe the sweet things that go on out there. Very often we laugh as much as we sing. Just kinda go with the day! Like this moment in the middle of the day when a guy comes up to me and tells me that one of the young ladies he's with is visiting New York City... and having a birthday at the same time.
I found out where she was visiting from, and asked him to get someone from her hometown on the phone. This is what happened.

Really kinda swell, hah?
By the way.... at the end of that video? The man in the lawn chair with that great head of white hair?
That's Sid Bernstein.... the man who brought The Beatles to America!
Very cool.
Okay...
For anybody who's visiting here for the first time, I want you to know that I feel part of my job description is also "paying attention". and as an American singer/songwriter, it's part of my job to write songs that "comfort the disturbed... and disturb the comfortable."
That said... would you guys make a point of checking out these two videos and take a minute to actually leave a comment or two?
This one is a lot more fun, because it's about the jackass that I call "The Pillsbury Doughboy of Patriotism"
Seriously... go in there, read a few of the comments, and have fun. (It's amazing what's goin' out there in other parts of this country!) But, be cool. Remember, we're the Good Guys. LEAVE YOUR OWN COMMENT
.
OKAY, NOW LET'S GET BACK TO THE MUSIC AND THE LOVE~
THE NEW CD IS HERE
Webmaster James Marino made it so you can click on that CD cover or use that link in the top left corner of this page to order it ight now.
I'm gonna try to figure out a way to really celebrate it's arrival. Maybe we'll just make the "Year-End Concert" in December a kind of "release party" as well as the fun tradition that gig is every year! It's gonna be swell to get all the artists on stage with me to play this thing LIVE.
I'll definitely be back here tomorrow with another new update. Keep checkin' back, okay? If you're new around here, or if you're checking in from a different part of the country or a different part of the world, take a few minutes (or hours) to browse through the ARCHIVE. Lotsa cool shit in there.
Keep showing up guys.
And, I hope you guys here in NYC are already thinking about the friends with which you're gonna share the "Year-End Concert" - SATURDAY NIGHT, DECEMBER 12TH, MERKIN CONCERT HALL, NYC.(Yeah, it's a long way off. But this is gonna be a special one this year!)
See you in the park today and next Saturday!
Thanks again.
All outdoor events are weather permitting! Stop by the website before you go if it is questionable.

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
