Hey! I'll be getting to today's update in a minute. BUT FIRST!!!!!THIS BANNER WILL BE APPEARING HERE ON THIS WEBSITE EVERY DAY FOR A WHILE TO GIVE YOU AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE A PART OF SOMETHING POWERFUL AND GOOD.
Okay... a little bit about yesterday, and then more about this really important movement that's starting.
Geez!
You'd think I was playing in a different city! It felt that strange for me when I first started playing on the south side of The Lake at Cherry Hill yesterday.
But, you guys.... you... "The People on the Hill"... you're like a tonic for me in situations like that. Man! A few songs into the day, and I knew that I was right where I belong doing exactly what I'm meant to be doing.
So.... THANK YOU again. Those young people singin' behind me in the rowboat. The "drum-soloists"! The woman in white hat dancing! The young wedding couple! All of you singing! All of you hangin' out together in the coolest city! Just another typically amazing day.
If you're new around here, I guess there are a couple of ways you can catch up.
One way is to hit the "Archive" and start browsing backward through the updates. There are years and years of updates in there.... FREE song downloads, photos, original cartoons and drawings, lotsa Photoshop images.
The other way is for me to just flat out tell you... I'm the luckiest man alive. I write songs and I sing them for people. That's what I do. I don't EVER have a lot of money, but I feel lucky to be among the minority of people who know with all their hearts that they are doing exactly what they're meant to be doing in any chapter of their lives.
I writes songs about Life and about Love, about all the things I dig in this human experience. I write songs to make people laugh, to touch a heart, and sometimes to just let people know that they're not alone. Got a new album that I'm trying to get to you guys as soon as I possibly can. I hope you all really love it!
Here are a few 2-minute samples of some of the tracks that will be on it.
Once in a while, I hafta write a song with a social conscience or to make a point.
Y'see to me...most often, art is a mirror that attempts as best it can to reflect the world around us. But sometimes, it can also be a mallet or a hammer, to help shape the world around us. Sometimes the songwriter's job is to "Comfort the disturbed.... and disturb the comfortable."
So for today.... I'm just gonna show any newcomers the original video.

The reasoning behind writing this song was explained pretty clearly, I hope, in this update.
Turns out, a whole lotta people are listening to the song and the message is landing.... so much so that a "small group of thoughtful, committed citizens" have decided that it should be made into some TV spots.
EVERYBODY'S gotta really get behind this and we'll start a brush fire.... together!
DO YOU WANT TO BE A PART OF THIS "SMALL GROUP OF THOUGHTFUL, COMMITTED CITIZENS"?
Click on this image to watch one of the three commercials.
Then... we hafta raise $50,000 but it's gotta start somewhere!
(I'm serious about this.)
Hit the PayPal button over there on the right at the top of the page where it says "Resolution". That whole thing is going to this ad campaign. Every nickel!!! So donate whatever you can!!!We need the help!
Okay, listen guys.... I'm outta here.
Still got a lot,of work to do to get ready to roll thisthing out sometime this week.
If you're reading this in a different part pf the country, I'll let you know where and when these things are gonna air as soon as I know for sure.
And for those of you reading this in different parts of the world, I'll make sure to post all 3 spots here at the website.
Check back all week for more updates, okay?
And...
Thanks again.

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
