Hey! I'll be getting to today's update in a minute. BUT FIRST!!!!! THIS BANNER WILL BE APPEARING HERE ON THIS WEBSITE EVERY DAY FOR A WHILE TO GIVE YOU AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE A PART OF SOMETHING POWERFUL AND GOOD.

Welcome to the website. I know there are a lot of you reading this in different parts of the country and different parts of the world. But to those of you here in New York, if you shared an afternoon of music and laughs with me on Saturday.... THANKS AGAIN!

Listen, this is gonna be a very interesting week around here at this website. So please make a point of stopping by everyday and I'll keep you up-to-date with what's going on and about the effort that small group of thoughtful, committed citizens are making to do the right thing in this country.

In fact, this brush fire started so small with an idea, a song, a video, an extraordinary woman out in California and an amazing circle of my friends and colleagues here in New York City.

I was on a conference call last night with a handful of very dedicated, thoughtful citizens who were all trying their best to come up with ways to raise the money to get these three TV spots in every home in America about 10 times a day for the next few weeks! I personally think the purest and best way is for every ordinary person of Reason to hit that PayPal button and donate, like 10 dollars or 50 dollars.... or, y'know... $10,000 if they can.

I think I'm gonna promote a FREE fund raising concert this coming Friday night, where every nickel that winds up in my guitar case goes to this worthwhile and important effort. (Hey! You can count my statistically as an official member of... "The Poor". But, somethings are worth it.)

It's also fun making the world a better place. The reason I wrote the song in the first place is pretty well explained in this update.

Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh!

Almost forgot!!!! We wrapped the work on the new album and webmaster James Marino finished the CD graphics this morning. So, it will only be a matter of days or weeks until it's available for you guys.

Wanna know what the title is?

Stop back tomorrow.

I can tell you this.... the 3 top suggestions from the survey were 1. THIS MOMENT 2. ANY OTHER WAY 3. HERE TODAY

I'll let you guys know what the title is gonna be tomorrow. (It'll probably surprise you. But, there is a Reason for everything I do.)

Here are a few 2-minute samples of some of the tracks that will be on it.

KEEP HOPE ALIVE

INTERNET ANGEL

ANY OTHER WAY

Once in a while, I hafta write a song with a social conscience or to make a point.

Y'see to me...most often, art is a mirror that attempts as best it can to reflect the world around us. But sometimes, it can also be a mallet or a hammer, to help shape the world around us. Sometimes the songwriter's job is to "Comfort the disturbed.... and disturb the comfortable."

Hence, the new song and video - "RESOLUTION"

(wow! I just used the word "hence"! Damn!)

Now, the story behind the song, the music video and the upcoming TV ad campaign is laid out kinda clearly in yesterday's update.

So for today.... I'm just gonna show any newcomers the original video.

CLICK ON THE IMAGE TO WATCH IT.

The story behind writing this project was explained pretty clearly, I hope, in this update.

Turns out, a whole lotta people are listening to the song and the message is landing.... so much so that a "small group of thoughtful, committed citizens" have decided that it should be made into some TV spots.

EVERYBODY'S gotta really get behind this and we'll start a brush fire.... together!

DO YOU WANT TO BE A PART OF THIS "SMALL GROUP OF THOUGHTFUL, COMMITTED CITIZENS"?

Click on this image to watch one of the three commercials.

Then... we hafta raise $50,000 but it's gotta start somewhere!

(I'm serious about this.)

Hit the PayPal button up there on the right at the top of the page where it says "Resolution". That whole thing is going to this ad campaign. Every nickel!!! So donate whatever you can!!! We need the help!

Okay, listen guys.... I'm outta here. But before I go I wanna leave you with one more thing.

My good buddy down in Maryland, my ol'-fiddle-player-partner who I call "MV" sent me this video this morning. Before you click on it, put your headphones in and turn up the volume just a little. Then.... the first time you play it.... close your eyes.

It sounds just like a summer rainstorm.

Close your eyes and really listen in your earphones.

Now, you understand why I LOVE people. I'm such a fan of human beings. We are the silliest things walking the earth and among the most magnificnet creatures in the Universe all at the same time..... capable of such cruelty and ignorance, but also soooooo capable of such beauty, Creativity, kindness, laughter, joy.... and Love.

Man! That was cool!

Still got a lot of work to do to get ready to roll "Resolution" out sometime this week.

If you're reading this in a different part pf the country, I'll let you know where and when these things are gonna air as soon as I know for sure. If you're new around here, I guess there are a couple of ways you can catch up. One way is to hit the "Archive" and start browsing backward through the updates. There are years and years of updates in there.... FREE song downloads, photos, original cartoons and drawings, lotsa Photoshop images.

And for those of you reading this in different parts of the world, I'll make sure to post all 3 spots here at the website.

Check back all week for more updates, okay?

And...

Thanks again.

PEACE

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
