Listen - before I get into the whole TV thing I hafta say, I have a feeling there are an awful lot of new people showing up here today. That's a good thing... especially if you really feel like "showing up". (I'll get to more about that in a minute. But, we need you to hit that donate button over there and help in whatever way you can.)
Hey! This coming Saturday, I'll be back in Central Park. Y'know, we have a lot of fun around here. Afternoons in the park where we share so many songs and so many laughs are what we're generally all about.
.
But, there's an important wave starting to rise and I hope we're all ready to ride it.... even push it along
Right now, it's Thursday and that means the rumors flying around that tomorrow night is Friday are probably true. And on Friday night, I'm gonna play a FREE concert down in The Village to help finance the airing of those 3 TV ads that began running on the West Coast last night.
"Wha !? A FREE concert to raise money for what !?"
Yeah, tomorrow night I'm gonna be on Pier 45 in The Village, in Hudson River Park all the way at the end of Christopher Street, between 7:00 and 9:00 to play the Sun down, kick off the weekend, and raise money to try to get some accountability for the disgrace George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and others brought upon our country in the last 8 years.
Just another day for an American singer/songwriter I guess.
If you're checking in here from the West Coast, hit the contact button and let me know what you thought of the ads when you saw them.
If you're in another part of the country or a different part of the world, you can...

To those of you here in The Big Apple... maybe you caught this article by Ralph Blumenthal on The New York Times website yesterday.

Like I said yesterday... I generally write and sing songs about Life, about commonality, songs to make people laugh, to touch their hearts, songs about Love, songs about.... us.
Y'see to me, most often, music is a mirror that attempts as best it can to reflect the world around us. But sometimes, it can also be a mallet or a hammer, to help shape the world around us. Sometimes the songwriter's job is to "Comfort the disturbed.... and disturb the comfortable." So by writing the next song that wanted to be written, I came up with the new song and video - "RESOLUTION"
So again today.... I'm just gonna show any newcomers the original video.

Listen... I'm just an ordinary American citizen. I work hard doing what I love to do with my Life, try to make the world a slightly better place each day, and hopefully strive to be a little bit less of an asshole than I was the day before. I went to college for about 10 minutes, majored in "incomplete", and eventually went on a roller-coaster of a journey that brought to a place where I now live an amazing life beyond my wildest dreams. I write songs and I sing them for people.
It's what I do.
Here are samples of a couple of new tracks from a new project.
Okay, that's all fun. It's all good. But in all seriousness...
.
I was born knowing that torture is inhuman, repugnant, barbaric, evil.... and illegal. (You were born knowing the same thing.)
So as we all go about seeking the Joy that runs underneath all our lives, why can't we actually take a step back to look at the bigger picture and acknowledge the Truth of what's happened in our name.... while many of us were watching "Dancing with the Stars" or cowering in the wake of 9-11.
We can be better than that!
Let's try.
Okay, I'm outta here for today got an awful lotta stuff to do. I'm actually gonna have lunch with my good friend and one of the finest guitar players I've ever met, "Dodger" Bartlett. (Havin' hung with him in a while.)
Then it's back to work trying to get the message of the song "Resolution" into every home in America.
If you have any ideas I'd love to hear them.
See you back here tomorrow with another update.
Thanks for everything

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
