Man! Gotta tell you...

Amazing things have been happening around here.

Gotta start off today's update with a wonderfully popular quote from Margaret Mead.

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed... it's the only thing that ever has."

.

Okay, with that said... welcome to the website!

Anybody who's new around here, take some time to look around. There's an awful lotta fun stuff in The Archive, going back a whole bunch of years. If you're checking in here from a different part of the country or a different part of the world, gotta tell you we're finally into the hazy days of summer here in The Big Apple.

Good news for all of you here in town who love to hang in Central Park with me and share an afternoon of music and laughs... we're on for this Saturday afternoon!

And when I say there are some amazing things happening around here, I mean it. But first...

Yesterday I promised you guys a few sample tracks from the upcoming CD. ever got to it because me and some friends and colleagues were.... um... busy trying to... y'know... make the world a better place. Ha! It's hard! Takes time!

But, a promise is a promise. So, here. A few 2-minute clips:

KEEP HOPE ALIVE

INTERNET ANGEL

ANY OTHER WAY

Well, there's another song that was gonna be heard for the first time on the new CD. But, I released it early. There was a good reason to release it early. I felt it was a song that needed to be heard now and put out there into the world for free. Then it occurred to me to put together a video to help tell the story and make the point.

It's a song called "Resolution". (The reasoning behind writing this song was explained pretty clearly, I hope, in this update.)

Turns out, a whole lotta people are listening to the song and the message is landing.... so much so that a "small group of thoughtful, committed citizens" have decided that it should be made into some TV spots.

At this point, after days and days of work and tireless effort by Laura Manske, and Emmy Award-winning director Dean Love, and his brother professional editor Dave Love, and a true patriot whom I just met over the phone yesterday named Cynthia Papermaster.... I actually believe we're gonna pull this off.

DO YOU WANT TO BE A PART OF THIS "SMALL GROUP OF THOUGHTFUL, COMMITTED CITIZENS"?

Click on this image to watch one of the three commercials.

Then... we hafta raise $50,000 but it's gotta start somewhere!

(I'm serious about this.)

Hit the PayPal button over there on the right where it says CENTRAL PARK PERMITS! That whole thing is going to this ad campaign. Every nickel!!! So donate whatever you can!!! We need the help!

Make a difference. BE the change you want to see in this country and the world.

Here's the original video:

CLICK ON THE IMAGE TO WATCH IT.

After you've watched the video and pass the link on to at least 1 friend who might "get it". Then take a minute to leave a comment, no matter how brief, on the YouTube page. It would mean a lot to me.

Okay!

Now, let me finish this little story.

So, I'll keep you posted.

Listen, if you've seen the video and actually gotten your mind and your heart around what the song is trying to say, I hope you'll understand that this is not about revenge, retribution or punishment. It's about doing what's right and keeping the rule of law intact. It's about holding onto the right to call ourselves "civilized". It's about appealing to, what Abraham Lincoln called, "the better angels of our nature".

It's about simply admitting the Truth.

So, if this thing starts a wave.... I hope every single person of Reason reading this right now is ready to jump on and ride it. Trust me... it'll feel good and you can actually have fun trying to make the world a better place.

Okay, back to the music.

YES! I will be playing the Sun down this Friday night between 7:00 and 9:00 as the "Sunset on the Hudson" concert series continues.

Tomorrow night

And, then on Saturday we'll all be hangin' out in Central Park again.

But, you'll hafta check back here to see if we're gonna be at "The Hill" or at the location I like to call "The Away Game". (The people at The Parks Department have got me even more confused than I often am!)

The Away Game

Remember years ago when the Parks Department would fence off "The Hill" at Hernshead in the middle of the summer season, and we would travel to the other side of the Lake? (Actually it's called "Cherry Hill") We might be heading back there on Saturday. But, I walked by our usual spot yesterday and there was no reason we couldn't have been there this past Saturday.... or this coming Saturday for that matter.

We'll see.

I'll explain tomorrow.

Oh by the way... about "Resolution. If you want a free download of the song: CLICK ON THIS LINK

See you guys here at the site all weekend with a new update every day! If you're new around here, or if you're checking in from a different part of the country or a different part of the world, take a few minutes (or hours) to browse through the ARCHIVE. Lotsa cool shit in there.

.

Thanks for everything.

.

PEACE

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
