What are you doing today?

Are you a "get-out-of-towner"? (No, I'm talking about Sarah Palin.... yet!)

Y'know what I'm doing?

I'm staying in town and heading to Central Park.

I took this shot from a plane flying
into LaGuardia.

Damn! I LOVE this town on holiday weekends! I really do. Downtown in Times Square and over by the rivers there are throngs of tourists and New Yorkers mingling to celebrate the day. But uptown, the streets are empty. Columbus Avenue... Broadway... the traffic is light and the livin' is easy. The whole town seems to slow down and quiet down for 3 days until the masses of get-outta-towners start scrambling back late Monday afternoon.

Perfect day to put my guitar on my shoulder and hang out with a few thousand really close friends who also decided to stay in town, kick back and relax.... just enjoy the magnificent town they call home.

New York City.

Now listen....

I've got some really cool things to tell you about - - things I'm gonna try out in Central Park today. But first, I hafta have a little fun with my own foresight.

You guys know I'm very close to wrapping the brand new CD. Well, one of the songs I decided to include was that fan favorite, "Tom Cruise Scares Me". I also decided to include within that song the verse about Sarah Palin... and the fact that "...she won't go away".

Well, so many people think she's going away. They're wrong. They think that because she announced her resignation yesterday, that she is somehow nobly bowing out of politics and gracefully exiting center-stage.

Bullshit.

I submit those people don't have a clue about human nature and the type of spotlight-craving lightweight Ms. Sarah Palin has shown herself to be.

I have 2 words for you.

"Talk Show"

No, let's make that 4 words...

"Fox News Talk Show"

If you think she hasn't already been offered something like that behind the scenes, you're crazy. In the meantime, here's a brief Photoshopic tribute to that gift from the north that keeps on giving.

. . . .

Okay, moving on.

Like I said yesterday, Since it actually might be the very first time I'm going to be singin' in Central Park on the Fourth of July, I think I might want to do something a little special. I'm thinking about shooting footage for a video surrounding on of the new songs from the soon-to-be-released collection.

I mean, it's Independence Day. It's a purely American holiday. It might be a good day to have a whole hill full of Good people singing the hook at the end of this song...

...even though it's a song I wish I didn't hafta write.

If you think you'd like to be a part of it, come on out and join me this afternoon.

It's cool. We'll do all the usual stuff, too. We'll sing songs about Love and about Life, songs that makes us laugh together and a few that might bring a tear. But, we'll also do something very special if this thing turns into the video I'd like it to be.

Okay...

Um, time to get back to the survey.

NAME THE CD

The chore of picking the name for the new CD is gonna fall to you guys this year.

I'll give you a choice of 5 titles that I'm thinking of, and you can choose from them. I'll also give you the list of the tracks that are gonna be on the album. You can pick one of the songs to be the title track. OR... you can write in a suggestion of your own.... something you feel the CD should be named.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
