Okay, sorry for the late update again today. No real reason. Just getting a late start.
Speaking of real reasons.
Y'know... when friends and acquaintances who I haven't seen in a while stop me on the street and ask me, "Hey, David, How's life?" or "How's everything?"... I very often respond by saying, "How's everything? Well, somethings are wonderful beyond words and somethings suck beyond description. That's a life."
I try my best to come at Life from a place of evenness. I'm not always very successful. Gonna take a lifetime of "inside" work to get there. I mean, I'm human. And, I actually enjoy my humanity. I'm a fan.
So, when things aren't going my way or some things just suck, I try to say, "It's not good news, and it's not bad news.... it's just the news".
So, here's the news. Looks like we're NOT gonna get that Special Events Permit I applied for from the people in the Permit Office this weekend to share music in Central Park.
(Don't ask me the reason. I can't actually say for sure.)
Still, hey... I'm the luckiest man alive that I even get to do hat I do with you guys in the park. AND, weather-permitting I'll be playing the Sun down between 7:00 and 9:00 on FRIDAY night down in Hudson River Park as part o the "Sunset on the Hudson" concert series.
AND... um... now, I know it's a long season and there's a LOT of baseball left to be played. But, The Yankees won last night and Boston lost. So, the boys are in sole possession of first place in the East. (The way things should be.)

AND!!!!
I'll be working really hard this week (and I guess his weekend, too!) to get the new CD finished and available for you guys! Maybe we'll do something special for a release concert of some kind.
AND!!!
I still want you guys to spend today and tomorrow passing the link for this brand new song and video around the country and the world! Don't let up! The Attorney General has got to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the use of illegal torture in our name. (Investigate, hell!!! We've had Cheney and Gates and Hayden and half the right-wing political world bragging about it!)
Some think that Eric Holder has a difficult decision to make.
In David Johnston's article in the NY Times today, he quotes Philip B. Heymann, who, like Mr. Holder, was a deputy attorney general in former President Bill Clinton's administration, as saying:
"It's a very difficult decision. It's about as hard a decision as I can imagine a prosecutor having to make."
In the article, he goes on to say that Mr. Holder's choice is not simply a prosecutorial judgment. President Obama has said criminal acts should be prosecuted, but he has also warned that he does not want his administration distracted from its ambitious agenda by backward-looking inquiries.
I've got news for all of them.
It's not a difficult decision. And it's not an easy decision.
IT'S NOT THEIR DECISION TO MAKE!!!!!!!!!
It's the law.
If this were a monarchy or an oligarchy.... sure. But, we're supposed to live in a democratic republic based on the rule of law.
I really need all of you to care. I really need to ask all of you reading this to watch that video again and leave a thoughtful comment, no matter how brief, on the YouTube page. My friends and colleagues an I worked so hard on the song and video for the new song "Resolution" and the purpose is to raise the level of discourse in this country around the issue of torture, decency, principle and justice.
Would you take a minute right this minute, and watch this video? Then do me a favor. (I ask this sincerely and you guys know that over the course of a year, I don't generally ask for much.)
Watch the video, listen to the song then take a minute, make the slight effort to go to YouTube and leave a comment about the song, about the video, and your honest thoughts and feelings about the issue they address.
Okay?

Then...
Click on this link to leave a comment at the YouTube page for everyone to read.
I'm really serious. Y'know? If I was smart business man, you guys would hafta wait until this brand new song is released on the new CD next month. But, this is about something more important than selling CDs. This is about taking a few moments in a Life to do what's right. (It actually feels really good to make the effort. It's just one of those little self-esteem-building things that doesn't take a whole lot of time.) The point of the song is to raise the level of dialogue, national discourse and awareness about torture in our name... yours and mine.
So, leave a comment. Be heard. Trust me.... you'll feel Good that you did for the rest of the day today.
See you guys here at the site all week with anew update every day! If you're new around here, or if you're checking in from a different part of the country or a different part of the world, take a few minutes (or hours) to browse through the ARCHIVE. Lotsa cool shit in there.
.
Thanks for everything.

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
