I'm gonna ask YOUR help today with something that is very important to me as a man and as an artist... as a human being and as an American citizen. So, it's time to get to work.
Although I often say that when you're lucky enough to do what I do for a living, every day is a vacation day and every day is a work day.
And, nearly every day is different and fascinating in it's own way.
For example, last week I was slammin' busy shooting and editing a music video with, hopefully, some social conscience and a little societal juice. Then, Friday night I was playing a concert on a Pier in The Village. Then on Saturday, I was busy playing a 5+ hour set in this town's backyard where I'm known as "That Guitar Man from Central Park".
Then yesterday, I headed up to Yankee Stadium with a new friend to catch the first "Old Timer's Day" game in the new home of the Yankees. (And coincidentally, also catch my very first foul ball in all the years I've been going to games up there!)
With a great game following the "Old Timer's" game on a perfect, blue-sky, white clouds, summer afternoon.... Yanks won putting them just a game behind Boston in the division.
Taking in a great tradition. Basking in my own wonderful memories.
. . .
So, now I've gotta get back to wrapping up the mixing and mastering of the new CD. Gotta get back to work on a script I've been sitting on for a few years. Gotta find a few hours to edit the new song "Resolution" down for a possible 60-second TV spot.
Which brings me to....
It's time to get back to something important to me... and I need your help.
Would you take a minute right this minute, and watch this video? Then do me a favor. (I ask this sincerely and you guys know that over the course of a year, I don't generally ask for much.
Watch the video, listen to the song then take a minute, make the slight effort to go to YouTube and leave a comment about the song, about the video, and your honest thoughts and feelings about the issue they address.
Okay?

Then...

I'm really serious. Y'know? If I was smart business man, you guys would hafta wait until this brand new song is released on the new CD next month. But, this is about something more important than selling CDs. This is about taking a few moments in a Life to do what's right. (It actually feels really good to make the effort. It's just one of those little self-esteem-building things that doesn't take a whole lot of time.) The point of the song is to raise the level of dialogue, national discourse and awareness about torture in our name... yours and mine.
So, leave a comment. Be heard. Trust me.... you'll feel Good that you did for the rest of the day today.
Some of you might be new here because I JUST added a truckload of names and addresses to the email list!
Couple of new things around here today. Well, for one thing I see that the webmaster, James Marino, hads posted a link so you guys can do this new FACEBOOK thing with me. It''s not the other FaceBook page that I've got. So if you're connected to that one, join this one as well, okay? It's called a "fan" page... but I prefer to think of it as "the people who hang out with me" page. (It's over there on the right, near the link if you wanna start following me on TWITTER.)
Um, time to get back to the survey.

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
