Hey welcome to the website for Tuesday...

Although if you know me at all, you know that what particular name we give a day means less to me than most people. (I'm convinced that elsewhere in the Universe and at the bottom of the ocean they don't really care that we're calling this "Tuesday"!)

Still... I guess it helps us keep track of some things.

Like.... on Saturday, I'm putting a guitar on my shoulder like I have every warm weekend for years and sharing an afternoon of music and laughs with a few thousand of my closest friends.

But...

Before I get to the weekend and all the smiles and laughter, I'm gonna be heading to Washington D.C. with a few thousand more of my closest friends.... like-minded Good people who are willing to stand up for basic human decency and the principles of a citizenry born of the Age of Reason.

Yeah, and it's for them that I wrote this song and worked overtime in the studio with another small group of dedicated, cool people to get it ready for this Thursday.... "Torture Accountability Action Day".

Read this update where I explained the why and who of it all.

Here's the song I wish I didn't have to write: It's a free download, so have at it... and pass it on.

Hey, as Thursday gets closer I'm sure I'll be able to give you more details about exactly what I'm gonna be doing down there. As I've told a few friends, I'm heading down to D.C. to be a part of the protest, to exercise our right to assemble... not initially so much as a singer/songwriter, but simply as one more person who needs to show up to pressure Eric Holder to do his damned job. (In my view, it's not President Obama's call to make.)

But, of course, I will have my guitar on my back and a bagful of CDs with this new track on it. I feel it's part of my job description "to comfort the disturbed.... and disturb the comfortable." I also feel in my heart that it's up to musical artists, in some small way, to try to make it "cool to care" in this country again.

So, if you really feel like doing something special with a... with a... um... Thursday... then jump on a train and head down to be a part of it, too.

Here's the link to the event. (Click on the image)

Like I said, then comes the weekend. Friday night down in The Village for the "Sunset on the Hudson" concert series, and then back to Central Park and another great day on "The Hill". Gonna be playing some songs from the new CD.

NAME THE CD

The chore of picking the name for the new CD is gonna fall to you guys this year.

I'll give you a choice of 5 titles that I'm thinking of, and you can choose from them. I'll also give you the list of the tracks that are gonna be on the album. You can pick one of the songs to be the title track. OR... you can write in a suggestion of your own.... something you feel the CD should be named.

Okay, here are the tracks that are gonna be on the CD, in no particular order.

1. Any Other Way
2. Mary Learns to Fly
3. Here today
4. Internet Angel (original version)
5. Some Wounds Never Heal
6. I Can't Wait (Unplugged)
7. Tom Cruise Scares Me '09
8. Did You Fall in Love Again (Solo acoustic version)
9. Resolution: The Torture Song
10. Keep Hope Alive
11. What Made America Famous
12. This Moment

Okay, here are the suggestions from which to choose.

PICK A TITLE

1. Here Today
2. Any Other Way
3. And a Generation Later...
4. This Moment
5. The White Album

Or, write in a suggestion of your own! CLICK ON THIS LINK TO SEND IN YOUR SUGGESTION. Vote for your favorite, and I'll keep you posted in the front-runners. We'll keep this thing going until the mix on the last track is final.

I'll be back here tomorrow with another update.

If you're new around here, or if you're checking in from a different part of the country or a different part of the world, take a few minutes (or hours) to browse through the ARCHIVE. Lotsa cool shit in there.

Okay, gotta get back to work.

Thanks for everything.

.

PEACE

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
