I remember one year saying, "Man! This was a rough Spring. With all the rain, we didn't get out to 'The Hill' until June 6th!"
This year... two more rainy weekends and it's lookin' really shaky for June 20th! (I thought it was April showers... APRIL showers!)
Oh well.
Well, I'm heading down to Pier 45 now. So, it looks like we're gonna get tonight's gig in.
TONIGHT is the "Sunset on the Hudson" concert series for the below-fourteenth-street crowd. (I play the Sun down from 7:00 to 9:00 tonight on Pier 45, way at the end of Christopher Street.)
.
And then tomorrow is the day we all head back out to Central Park to hang together and share another afternoon of music and laughs. I'll update this website tomorrow morning to let you know how it's lookin'.
OR.... you can start "following" me on TWITTER. (The link is over there on the right.) Might actually be a practical use for Twitter which I have regarded as one of the most pointless fads to come along in my lifetime! (Maybe I was wrong... again.)
Y'know, if I go ahead and get me one of those fancy new iPhones, I supposed I'll be able to update you guys about where and when I'm playing as I'm actually on the way to the venue. Maybe considering that I do most of my work outdoors and so much of it depends on the weather.... hmmmmm.
That might be a good idea. (As soon, as I can afford it. Not gonna be able to afford it if it keeps raining, dammit!) Maybe we'll have some fun with it in other ways, too. It's like, right? And then she's all, I mean, it's like... I know. lol :-)
Ha!
Ah, it's all GOOD.
Had another amazing session in the studio last night with Brian Bauers. We laid down the final track on "RESOLUTION: The Torture Song " and took a run at a final mix. Gotta start marshaling and rallying people of all stripes.... I want this song to cross genre, cross gender, cross race, cross generation, cross political parties. I want every single person of Reason to get behind this song.
I might even try to approach Shepard Smith of FOX News about this song and the project I want to link to it.
Now, if you've been coming around here at all, you know how strongly I feel, generally, about FOX "News" for employing shallow-minded blowhards like Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck and poisonous, fear-based, Spiritually-bankrupt individuals like Sean Hannity. But, I've always had a kind of under-the-radar respect for Shepard Smith. (Just a gut feeling that there's a man of reason behind those eyes, conflicted by many of the things he's got to read off the prompter. Thoughtful but conflicted in many, many ways is my best guess. Maybe that's just me being presumptuous.)
BUT... a regular visitor to this website sent me this video and it knocked my socks off.
Yeah...
In this instance, Mr. Smith needs to go to Washington with us.
Listen, I have to get back to work. I saw this video and it's just one more affirmation that I GOTTA get this track finished.... NOW! It can't wait.
Part of my job description is, of course - "To comfort the disturbed... and disturb the comfortable.
I can't wait for you guys to start hearing these songs. It's still a ways off and there's a lot more work to do. But, I'm gonna hafta start thinking about a CD release concert of some kind. Wouldn't it be amazing to have all of the musicians who played on this album and all of the singers who lent their voices to it on one stage.
That would be cool.
Just hafta think about how to pull that off.
Anyway...

I'll be back here tomorrow with another update.
If you're new around here, or if you're checking in from a different part of the country or a different part of the world, take a few minutes (or hours) to browse through the ARCHIVE. Lotsa cool shit in there.
And so, I very often try to make a few songs down-loadable for FREE. Here are a few - a love song, a couple with social consciousness, and... something just for fun.
As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
