Big update for me today.

Sorry we got rained out yesterday! But, welcome to the website. Welcome to the first day of Summer. Although, damn! What... have we been able to get to Central Park about, what? 4 times so far this year?

Another rainy day today. It's all cool, though. We'll have a lot of opportunities to hang together and share music and laughs this summer. And TODAY... I'm gonna roll out a new song.

Now, if you've been following me at all for any amount of time you know that I feel very passionately about many things. I'm such a lucky man because I very often get to put that passion in a song. In today's update, I'm going to release a brand new song.

NEW SONG

You also know that on my next CD I've got songs of Life (Keep Hope Alive), songs about heartache (Some Wounds Never Heal), song about loss (Here Today), songs about sex (Internet Angel), ridiculous song (Tom Cruise Scares Me), songs about Love (I Can't Wait) and others... and that CD will be available for you very soon.

But, I'm rolling out a new song today ahead of all the others. Because part of my job is "To comfort the disturbed.... and disturb the comfortable."

I'm sorry guys. We're all too comfortable.

And the Iranian people are embarrassing the shit out of us.

1. Hundreds of thousands take to the streets 2. A young woman stands in defiance 3. Protesters come to the aid of a fellow protester being beaten by police (Notice... all women and one young man coming to help.)

Where were we when our election was stolen on 2000? Where were we when our nation invaded and occupied a country on manufactured pretenses? Why aren't we in the streets as hundreds of thousands of civilian men, women and children and thousands of American service people are being killed in Iraq?

WHERE ARE WE NOW THAT DICK CHENEY IS ON TV ADMITTING TO COMMITTING WAR CRIMES IN OUR NAME, BREAKING OUR LAWS, FLOUTING INTERNATIONAL LAW, PROSPERING FINANCIALLY FROM AN INVASION THAT HE HELPED TO PROSECUTE?

Where are we? What are we doing?

I need your help!

This coming Thursday is "Torture Accountability Day" all over this country. With the help of a small group of committed artists and friends I worked overtime to get this song finished by this weekend. Every single person who showed up for this song has expressed how really proud they are to be a part of it.

YOU can be a part of it too.

Listen to the song - download the song - feel the song.

Then send it to your friends and family, even those who disagree with you on everything! Send it to the news media. Send it to radio stations. Email the link to your friends on FaceBook. Email the link to organizations and people you don't know.

Shoot me an email, tell me where you've sent it, and I will list your name along side the wonderful people who helped make this song:

Christine Lavin, Sid Bernstein, Teresa Reynolds, JC Hall, Brian Bauers & Ashley, David Marcus, Cenovia Cummins, Janet Kirker, Nelson Montana, Dean Love, Laura Manske, Roger Bartlett, Lisa Regal and many, many others...

Here's the song:

Okay... HA! Now, no one ever accused me of having good business sense. And, that's fine with me! So, here we go again. I need you to feel a little passion, and then translate that passion into just a little action. Seriously, it's been said a million different ways. "Actions speak louder than words" - "Faith without works is dead" - "Want a better world, get off your ass and do something" - (Okay I just made that last one up.)

But, in this case you don't even hafta get up. You can do something by using your imagination and your computer. Send the song to EVERYONE!

I'll be back tomorrow with more.

Thanks for everything.

.

PEACE

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
