Hey welcome to the website. Welcome to all of you who are new around here, especially those of you who are checking in from across the country and different parts of the world.

Here in town, we got rained out again on Saturday. So, I'm really looking forward to putting my guitar on my shoulder and hangin' out with you guys in Central Park this coming Saturday.

This week is gonna be a quietly intense week in some ways.

I'm planning to head down to Washington D.C. on Thursday for "Torture Accountability Day"

Maybe after the last 8 years I shouldn't, But I honestly have a hard time believing we have to have a day of protest because our elected government devises, authorizes, utilizes, and then ignores programs of torture.

Torture.

Now listen, you guys know me. You know what I love to write and sing about. you know that I smile more than I don't, that I'm not afraid to cry, that I love to make people laugh and spend most of my days in a constant state of gratitude and wonder. But some things are just too important to ignore. And, it's actually part of my job description to care about and write about these things. (If you want a more complete explanation of the reason for writing and recording this song, click on yesterday's update.)

But if you're reading this right now....

Yes YOU!!!!

I need you help getting this song out to the world. I just released it here a s FREE download yesterday. Please send it to everyone you know and people you don't know, okay?

Read yesterday's update where I explained the why and who of it all.

Here's the song I wish I didn't have to write:

Click on the banner

I need you to feel a little passion, and then translate that passion into just a little action. Seriously, it's been said a million different ways. "Actions speak louder than words" - "Faith without works is dead" - "Want a better world, get off your ass and do something" - (Okay I just made that last one up.)

But, in this case you don't even hafta get up. You can do something by using your imagination and your computer. Send the song to EVERYONE!

NAME THE CD

The chore of picking the name for the new CD is gonna fall to you guys this year.

I'll give you a choice of 5 titles that I'm thinking of, and you can choose from them. I'll also give you the list of the tracks that are gonna be on the album. You can pick one of the songs to be the title track. OR... you can write in a suggestion of your own.... something you feel the CD should be named.

Okay, here are the tracks that are gonna be on the CD, in no particular order.

1. Any Other Way
2. Mary Learns to Fly
3. Here today
4. Internet Angel (original version)
5. Some Wounds Never Heal
6. I Can't Wait (Unplugged)
7. Tom Cruise Scares Me '09
8. Did You Fall in Love Again (Solo acoustic version)
9. Resolution: The Torture Song
10. Keep Hope Alive
11. What Made America Famous
12. This Moment

Okay, here are the suggestions from which to choose.

PICK A TITLE

1. Here Today
2. Any Other Way
3. And a Generation Later...
4. This Moment
5. The White Album

Or, write in a suggestion of your own! CLICK ON THIS LINK TO SEND IN YOUR SUGGESTION. Vote for your favorite, and I'll keep you posted in the front-runners. We'll keep this thing going until the mix on the last track is final.

I'll be back here tomorrow with another update.

If you're new around here, or if you're checking in from a different part of the country or a different part of the world, take a few minutes (or hours) to browse through the ARCHIVE. Lotsa cool shit in there.

Okay, gotta get back to work.

Thanks for everything.

.

PEACE

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
