Welcome back to the website! And, to any newcomers.... welcome.
(Probably not a whole lotta new people here yet today, because I haven't had a chance to enter any of the new email addresses from this past Saturday yet and this week's blast will be late. Been really busy. Lots goin' on these days.)
Just the same I wanna say "Hi" to all of you checking in here from different parts of the country and different parts of the world. Here in New York City, it's just another really beautiful day.
Y'know? It's days like this, it's people like you, it's having a great place like Central Park to play my songs and engage sooooo many people over the course of a season.... this s what makes me say I'm the luckiest man alive. It's the reason I say I Love my Life and I know I'm doing exactly what I'm meant to do.
And hell... I've been doing it now for a long time, hah?
Anyway... thanks to everyone who showed up on Saturday for that less-than-perfect day, weather-wise. It wasn't one of our "golden" days out there, but we sure had a lot of laughs. And that Emmy Award-winning filmmaker, Dean Love, who's shooting a movie about the whole "Guitar Man from Central Park" thing caught a lot of fun stuff for his project. (The young couple in the gondola, the people from L.A. who randomly started skipping.... all cool.)
I woke up to an email this morning and y'know who was also there again?
Vagabond Betty who writes a travel blog and shoots parts of the day from waaaaaayyyy the hell over on that uptown rock!
This morning, she pointed me at video of an old classic we've been doin' out there for years. (I wish she woulda shot you guys, though. I love watchin' hundreds of people from all 5 boroughs, all across the country and different parts of the world singin' this stuff together.
Anyway... hey, I'll probably be back wit a more complete update in a little while.
I'm workin' on a new CD and I've got some lyric-work to do this morning. Then I've got an audition for something silly, then I've got some phone calls scheduled with a violinist and a cellist who've both GOTTA be on the next album. (Oooh, fancy!)
Then it's back into the studio to lay down some new stuff.
But...
If you're new around here you might as well know, I named my most recent CD "I Love the Company" for a reason. People who.... y'know.... "get it" have a lot of fun around here. People who don't.... well.... if that's YOU... please keep comin' around. Maybe one day you'll come around.
Here's a silly little song dedicated to someone who most definitely doesn't get it!
It's a song I wrote about the man I now call "Patriotic Pillsbury Doughboy of Democracy"(Make sure you watch them through the credits at the end!)
Okay...
I'll be back with a new update every day this week.
Feel free to leave comments or hit the "Contact" button up there to shoot me an email. OR.... HIT THIS LINK TO LEAVE COMMENTS! Let me know what you think of these things. The comments I've received here at the website have been a blast so far!
Okay... Thanks again for Saturday. See you next in the park on Saturday, May 23.
If you're new around here.... there's a lot to check out. Besides being a self-described "possibility-junkie", I was explaining to someone a while ago that I'd also become a photoshop-junkie. You can hit the "Archive" here and search through hundreds of updates. A lot of cool stuff here at the site. FREE songs. Cartoons.
Thanks for everything.
PEACE

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
