Welcome to the website.

Chances are.... as you are reading this, I am up at the new Yankees Stadium, hopefully watching the Yankees get their first win in their new home.

And if you've been coming around here for any amount of time at all, you know how much fun we have around here. There are always pictures, and songs to download for free, and jokes.

And if you're here to find out when he season of music and laughs begins in Central Park...

CLICK ON THIS LINK FOR THE UPDATE ABOUT OPENING DAY IN THE PARK.

.

.

.

.

But there will be no update today.

Because I was sooooooo angry and disheartened yesterday... and this morning, I just don't feel much like foolin' around.

In the past 24 hours, while most of this country is watching "American Idol", "Dancing with the Stars" or Glenn Beck, we may have seen one of the saddest, most disappointing moments in my adult lifetime of paying attention to what's happening in this country.

.

.

Barack Obama has decided not to prosecute anyone in the Bush administration for breaking U.S. law, International Law, and basic human decency by authorizing the torture of people held as terror suspects.

"This is a time for reflection, not retribution. We have been through a dark and painful chapter in our history. But at a time of great challenges and disturbing disunity, nothing will be gained by spending our time and energy laying blame for the past."

Two problems...

It's NOT his decision to make!!!!!!

(He swore to defend the Constitution of the United States against ALL enemies.... foreign AND domestic.)

Second - "nothing will be gained!?"

.

.

.

.

Is he kidding?

.

.

.

.

.

I'm disgusted.

The Justice Department and Attorney General Eric Holder are supposed to be independent of the President's office. If a law has been broken in this country, he should investigate and prosecute it. The lawyers and the A.G. in the last administration were puppets for the Oval Office... here we are again.

Cheney and Hayden have both admitted publicly that waterboarding has been used on at LEAST 3 occasions. When Mr. Holder was asked during his confirmation hearing if waterboarding was torture, he emphatically said, "If you look at the history of the use of that technique used by the Khmer Rouge, used in the inquisition, used by the Japanese and prosecuted by us as war crimes, we prosecuted our own soldiers in Vietnam, I agree with you, Mr. Chairman, waterboarding is torture,"

Then he was asked if other counties have the authority to torture captured U.S. citizens if they deemed it a national security threat?

"No, they would not," replied Holder. "It would violate the international obligations that I think all civilized nations have agreed to, the Geneva Conventions."

Then he was asked if the president could use his authority as commander in chief to override acts that prohibit illegal interrogation practices or torture.

Here is his statement under oath.

"No one is above the law. The president has a constitutional obligation to faithfully executive the laws of the United States. There are obligations that we have as a result of treaties we have signed and obligations to the Constitution."

.

.

.

(So much for "Change I can believe in.")

.

.

.

.

See you tomorrow.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
