Oh man!

YESTERDAY! What a day here in New York City! Spring is here!!! I'm tellin' you... in the old days when I was a criminal, I woulda been out in the park with my guitar already! But, now that I'm all legal and kind of officially "That Guitar Man from Central Park", I hafta wait for the first Special Events permits to be issued. That'll hopefully happen the very first weekend in May.

Fun week comin' up around here.

I guess you guys saw in the news that during our president's first trip overseas, his wife Michelle Obama breached protocol by "touching" the Queen of England.

First of all, I'm pretty sure we had a... um... a... um... revolution to make pretty clear what we thought of all that royalty stuff. Still, it's their silly tradition. I guess they get to make the ground rules in their own ballpark.

Hell, I remember the first time I met Queen Elizabeth II.

I had NO idea what was proper and what wasn't. I just thought I was being friendly and giving the ol' girl a smile an a giggle.

I was escorted from the palace immediately.

Oh well. (I never was one for following those kinds of rules.)

I cannot tell you hoe completely jazzed I am to get back out to Central Park with my guitar on my shoulder. There's so much to say with music... there's still so much to say. I have a feeling we're all gonna need each other's company. I have a feeling we're all gonna need to sing and laugh together out there. And just because the nightmare that was the Bush administration has ended, it doesn't mean that's a reason to go back to watching "Dancing with the Stars" and forgetting to shine a light on what's going on the in this country and in the world. There are still small-minded, fear-driven blowhards like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly and Ann Coulter out there making noise. There are plenty of career-politician-hypocrites like Chris Dodd, Nancy Pelosi and the entire Republican Party out there stinking up the discourse. And, the Obama administration is already turning it's collective back on the American Constitution by refusing to investigate and prosecute Bush, Cheney, Gonzales and the whole stinking lot of 'em for abandoning our principles, abandoning basic human decency and for breaking U.S. and international Law.

And then....

THERE'S COLBERT!!!!

Now on his show last week, Colbert was all inflated over the fact that he got his "nation" to put him over the top in NASA's contest to name a module on the International Space Station.

I think I'm just gonna hafta let this go.

Who knows? Maybe Stephen will come around and show up at "the Hill" this summer. But, y'know.... without the disguise.

Okay... I'm outta here. Got a song to finish.

If you're new around here.... there's a lot to check out. Besides being a self-described "possibility-junkie", I was explaining to someone a while ago that I'd also become a photoshop-junkie. You can hit the "Archive" here and search through hundreds of updates. A lot of cool stuff here at the site. FREE songs. Cartoons.

Alright, if you're in town I hope I see you guys out on the hill starting in May.

In the meantime, I'll be back here tomorrow.

Thanks for everything.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
