Before I get into anything else today, I hafta shout...
THE AMERICAN NEWS MEDIA IS MADE UP OF THE SILLIEST, FOOLISH, HIGH-SCHOOLISH LITTLE CHILDREN ON THE PLANET.
Swine Flu.
Are they kidding!?
The number 1 news story?
Um... I woke up to hear reporter after reporter, anchor after anchor speaking with such urgency and intensity in their deliveries, reporting about.... um... reporting about...
40 cases of a mild flu illness... one went to the hospital.
IN THE ENTIRE F#!@KING UNITED STATES!!!!!!
(Uy!)
#2 story? The fiance of the Craig's List Killer speaks.
Oh man!
Anything to distract people from the truly important things.
Okay.... moving on. Wouldn't y'know it!!!
On the day I finish the latest video and launch it here at the website, I booked a little commercial-demo gig that I've been shooting yesterday and today! That hasn't given me a chance to reply to any of the emails and comments I've received as a result of the video and new song "A Special Kind of Friendship".
But keep 'em coming!
I promise you I'm reading every one!
Tell you what, if you missed the debut of the video yesterday, here it is again.
And here's a link to the comments page.Leave a message for Stephen or me.... or that person you had an anonymous crush on last summer in Central Park and just hope they're a Colbert fan. (Okay.... don't do that. That's just creepy.)
But seriously, pass the link onto everyone you know. People are telling me that it's cracking them up or at least making them smile for the length of the song.
And a couple are saying, "I just don't get it."
That's why I'm here.
AND, that's why I'm heading back to Central Park again this year for another summer! (And this year, a guy is gonna be making a movie about the whole "Guitar Man" thing. Tell you more about that this week.)
Opening Day this Saturday, May 2
What else did I wanna tell you about today? Um.... OH YEAH!
I was at that shoot all day yesterday and then I had to shoot straight down to Birdland to debut a brand new version of an old classic
If you were and you sang along with my latest version of an old song I wrote.... which, for this summer, is called "Glenn Beck Scares Me". You just might be part of the next video! Jim was one of the silly people who made the Colbert video happen. So was Dean Love and Laura Manske. Well, we all went to Cast Party last night so I could take a run at a new song focusing on... focusing on.... (Y'know? I don't know how to describe Glenn Beck.)
You'll just hafta wait for the song.
I might have it here by the end of the week.
Listen I'll be back with another update tomorrow. I gotta run to do this gig right now and them I'm gonna crash hard tonight.
If you're new around here.... there's a lot to check out. Besides being a self-described "possibility-junkie", I was explaining to someone a while ago that I'd also become a photoshop-junkie. You can hit the "Archive" here and search through hundreds of updates. A lot of cool stuff here at the site. FREE songs. Cartoons.
Alright, if you're in town I hope I see you guys out on the hill.
In the meantime, I'll be back here tomorrow.
Thanks for everything.
All outdoor events are weather permitting! Stop by the website before you go if it is questionable.

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
