I haven't been talking about this.... even with my closest friends.

But, I have some news today.

Well, it's been a great, great experience. It's been a wonderful chapter in my life. And, this would have been a wonderful summer in Central Park (Year # 18) being "That Guitar Man from Central Park".

BUT... y'know? When we did the last concert at H.I. New York Performance Hall to say goodbye to singer Dave Marcus, it got me thinking.

Dave is moving back to his home state of Maryland because.... well, for a lot of reasons - one of them being that he said he needs a "change".

I haven't been talking about it here on the website because I wasn't sure if the offer was going to be made. But, I've been feeling that things have got to change for me, too. Now, you guys know that I do a yearly week-long gig in the islands or in Mexico. Well, I've been just offered a 2-year gig at a resort in the Turk & Caicos Islands and I'm thinkin' about taking it. Here's the thing...

I'm ready for a change, and this gig seems really cool. The only thing is.... I would hafta leave in 10 days and sign a contract for 2 years.

So, this is probably good bye.

If I take the gig, yeah... it's kinda sad. But, that's life. Things change. This would be the first summer in 18 years that I won't be singing in Central Park. (Sometimes I wonder if it will really even be missed all that much!)

If you think I'd be out of my mind for leaving this behind, or if you think you'd never hear me say I'd rather do something than share my music on warm, sunny afternoons with you at "the Hill" in the middle off the greatest city in the world - - if you just don't understand what I'm saying here today...

Can't wait until I see you all again on the first weekend in May!

Hey in Monday's update I mentioned that I came very close to the lead in a feature film, co-starring with my ex-friend and new-nemesis Stephen Colbert.

Well, I just got word yesterday that they're actually considering the two of us for the sequel.

Now on his show this week, Colbert was all inflated over the fact that he got his "nation" to put him over the top in NASA's contest to name a module on the International Space Station.

I think I'm just gonna hafta let this go.

Who knows? Maybe Stephen will come around and show up at "the Hill" this summer. But, y'know.... without the disguise.

Okay... I'm outta here. Got a song to finish.

If you're new around here.... there's a lot to check out. Besides being a self-described "possibility-junkie", I was explaining to someone a while ago that I'd also become a photoshop-junkie. You can hit the "Archive" here and search through hundreds of updates. A lot of cool stuff here at the site. FREE songs. Cartoons.

Alright, if you're in town I hope I see you guys out on the hill starting in May.

In the meantime, I'll be back here tomorrow.

Thanks for everything.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
