Man! This was just an amazing weekend here in New York City.

Back in the days before I was kind of officially "That Guitar Man from Central Park", I woulda headed out to the park on a day like Saturday. I mean... sunny and in the 70s!? Perfect park day!

But nowadays, we're keepin' it legal and waiting for the season to begin.

We're scheduled for opening day in less than 2 weeks.

OPENING DAY!

SATURDAY, MAY 2

Wanna really feel like a part of it all this year? You can be... in a VERY real way! Wanna help out with this year's Permit Fund? (But ONLY if you can afford it.)

Here's the link if you wanna contribute.

This weekend, I had Jim Caruso come over and record the new song I wrote in honor of my "Feud with Stephen Colbert". I was gonna make it available today as a free download.... but, decided I'd wait until we shoot the video that's gonna accompany the track. I hope to get it done this week.

Listen, I was gonna post some other video... a couple songs from a few of my indoor concerts from this past winter. But, I'm still having some real technical problems with imovie these days. So instead, I'll post this to start off your week.

On Saturday, human-enthusiasm-machine and fellow possibility-junkie Laura Manske stopped by while Jim and I were workin' on that song. Afterward the 3 of us did one of those now famous diner-runs at the perfect diner. Later that day, I got an email from Laura with a link to this video.

I make it no secret that I spend most of my Life really paying attention, living out loud, embracing Life.... all of it.... the joy, the pain, the little victories the failures...

The mystery.

I walk through this world most days in a state of amazement and wonder. I'm a fan of people. I think human beings are both the silliest creatures on the planet and the most magnificent things in the Universe, all at the same time.

We are capable of such kindness and such cruelty. We are so, so Good but can get so indescribably lost.

But, WE ARE CAPABLE OF THIS...

AND IT MAKES ME SMILE.

IT MAKES ME WEEP WITH ADMIRATION FOR THE HUMAN SPIRIT.

Hey.... let's have a great week.

Be cool to each other okay?

Maybe.... do something nice for someone... and don't get caught!

I'll see you back here tomorrow.

And I'll see you in the park in less than 2 weeks.

Oh hey... WAIT!!! You wanna be in a movie!?

Seriously. If you come and hangout with me all this summer in Central Park, you're probably gonna be a part of a film that's being made this year about... um... about... uh...

me.

And, about what I've been doing with all of you at "The Hill" for the past 18 years.

The filmmaker, Dean Love, is gonna be shooting everything we do out there. So, call a few friends and make plans to join us on Saturday, May 2 to kick off the summer.

I can't wait to hang out with all of you in Central Park this year. We're gonna have an awful lot to sing about this year.

If you're new around here.... there's a lot to check out. Besides being a self-described "possibility-junkie", I was explaining to someone a while ago that I'd also become a photoshop-junkie. You can hit the "Archive" here and search through hundreds of updates. A lot of cool stuff here at the site. FREE songs. Cartoons.

Alright, if you're in town I hope I see you guys out on the hill.

In the meantime, I'll be back here tomorrow.

Thanks for everything.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
