First gotta tell you. I've been all wrapped up the last couple of days writing a new song. Maybe I'll post a rough run at the track in the next couple of days for you guys and tell you a little bit about how the whole thing came to be. (Man! It's so cool. Y'know, songwriting is what I do for a living. And yet, the process is still such a mystery to me. On this one, the lyric wanted to write itself as I purposefully walking miles and miles around the streets of Manhattan for the last 3 days.)
Go figure.
BUT! The music married the lyric, and when that happens I'm a happy kid.
Oh, oh, oh... and today! Today I'm gonna spend a good part of the day researching theaters to do the first "Mid-Winter Concert". The co-founder of the G.I.G. Foundation and me figured that... if it's back at Merkin Hall, it would hafta be on a weeknight. So... maybe we should scout another music venue of about the same size and aim for a Friday or Saturday night.
I'll let you know when I know.
In the meantime, CALL YOUR FRIENDS AND RESERVE YOUR SEATS FOR "THE 8 YEAR CONCERT"
What?
What is "The 8 Year Concert" you ask?
I'll tell you, AND I'll give you a way to reserve your seats right here, right now today. But, here's a little video that, if you're anything like me and you love the idea of America, might give you a warm feeling inside.
(What an amazing piece of music by W.G. Snuffy Walden and Pete Anthony)
Okay... it's been a long 8 years since the debacle that was the 2000 election and September 11 the following year. In that time, I've written all the songs on the CD "Crazy on the Same Day" which turned out to be the most uplifting and positive collection of songs I'd ever put on one album. I've also written a collection of songs for the "Common Ground" CD which included songs like "Tired of Being Lied To", "My Morning Coffee", "Where'dat Money Go?" and of course "Common Ground". Then came the album called "I Love the Company" with songs like "Conservative Christians, Right-wing Republican, Straight, White, American Males" as well as the title track.
But, besides all those "keepers" I'd also written songs with a specific purpose. Some funny. Some pointed. Songs like...
On Saturday night, January 24th I'm gonna do a concert to play some of those songs one last time and retire them forever.
H.I. New York Performance Hall - 7:30

Okay...
I'm outta here.
I'll be back tomorrow.
Again... send some good thoughts and whatever kinds of prayers you have in your bag to those civilian people of Palestine who are getting their heads handed to them today.
PEACE

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
