Welcome to the website for a new year! Welcome to all of you reading this in a different part of the country or a different part of the world.

TODAY!!! If you're here in New York, you can reserve your seats for the first concert of the year... "The 8 Year Concert". (And, I'll tell you guys really soon about the following "Mid Winter" gig.) But first!

You guys all set for 2009. One more time around the Sun?

Hey, let's just start out the year with a few songs to download for FREE... one from my latest CD and a couple out of the attic.

Click on this photo of "The People on the Hill" in Central Park, hangin' out with me, doin' what we do in the summer months here in New York City.

The song was originally called "The New Year Song". But, I decided to rename it for the album. It's called "Next Time Around". (I'm still not completely sure I titled it correctly.... only because I found that over the last year, so many people have told me that they love this song, but NOBODY can remember off the top of their heads what it's called!)

Okay... gonna start off the year with a couple of FREE downloads and a sweet thought from ancient China.

Y'see... I'VE GOT "THE 8-YEAR CONCERT" COMING UP ON JANUARY 24TH!

That's when I'm gonna retire a whole bunch of songs I was compelled to write over the past 8 years of the Bush administration.

(Of course, songs like this will stick around, 'cause I don't think people like this guy are goin' anywhere soon.)

Bill O'Reilly: The Legend of the Big Giant Head

But, we're gonna have a blast. We'll probably laugh as much as we sing. It is definitely gonna be a feel-good night - 4 nights after a historic inauguration and... well, let's face it I love any excuse to hang with all of you Good people and share a night of music. This is just gonna give me a chance to let go of some of these songs that I hope I never have to sing again!!!

Remember this one from 2003!?

Y'know, I remember scrambling to finish the lyric one night as I was waiting to go on stage at the SGA Songwriters Circle down in the Village. A brilliant writer named Frank Beacham was in the house with his camera that night and he caught me writing the lyric to "Get Out Our House".

.

THEN... some body else caught the first night I introduced the song and I knew it ws gonna catch on because everybody at The Red Lion started singin' the hook. (In fact, I got emails the next day from people all over the city saying, "DAMMIT, David! I can't get that song out of my head!"

Pretty cool.

Here's the video from that night. CLICK ON THE PHOTO

Listen... "The 8-Year Concert"! It's gonna be fun. You can reserve your seats RIGHT NOW!

On Saturday night, January 24th, we'll all get together in H.I. New York Performance Hall and sing a bunch of those songs one last time and retire them forever! We'll sing other stuff, too. It'll be a blast. But, I wanna get everybody who senses Hope and Possibility in a room so we can feel this release together! (Then, of course, we have a LOT more work to do!)

It's general admission... first come first serve. The concert starts at 7:30 but the house will open at 7:00.

Cool?

Okay... have at it! Grab some seats! Here's the banner.

Click on this banner to put your name on the list at the door.

OR...

You can just show up that night with a $20 bill. I'll let you know if it's lookin' like a sell-out as it gets closer, okay?

Now!

If you were at the "Year-End Concert" in Merkin Concert Hall in December, you know what kind of kick these things are. BUT, Merkin Concert Hall seats 450. In H.I.N.Y. Performance Hall there are only 150 seats. So, it's a lot more intimate and the way it works is this.

You click on the banner to reserve your seats right now, today, 24 hours a day. There are no actual, physical tickets. You just reserve as many seats as you need and your name will be put on the guest list at the door, okay? Whoever comes with you will also be under your name. For example:

Hedleston, Teresa - 2
Marino, James - 2
Dalmation, family - 101

That kinda thing.

Cool?

Okay, before I get out of here I wanna leave you with this lovely thought.

Here's a little something else to begin 2009. Just a few thoughts that someone else had a long, long time ago in ancient China... and I can pass it on.

WITH MONEY YOU CAN BUY A HOUSE BUT NOT A HOME
WITH MONEY YOU CAN BUY A CLOCK BUT NOT TIME
WITH MONEY YOU CAN BUY A BED BUT NOT SLEEP
WITH MONEY YOU CAN BUY A BOOK, BUT NOT KNOWLEDGE
WITH MONEY YOU CAN A DOCTOR, BUT NOT GOOD HEALTH
WITH MONEY YOU CAN BUY A POSITION BUT NOT RESPECT
WITH MONEY YOU CAN BUY BLOOD BUT NOT LIFE
WITH MONEY YOU CAN BUY SEX BUT NOT LOVE

Thanks for everything.

Hey, I'll be back soon with more info on the Mid-winter concert, okay? Keep checking back..

Hope you can call a few friends and make it to "The 8-Year Concert" in about 3 weeks.

Thanks for a great year.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
