Hey!

We've got an indoor concert comin' up in less than a week!

NEXT Saturday night! If you're here in New York City, I hope you make plans to call a few friends and come to this one. Or come by yourself. It's gonna be fun.

And, this past weekend a whole lot of really funny reaction came in after I wrote about "The Ponz" in Saturday's update. So, I though I'd post the photo again for those who missed it.

The Ponz

No matter where you're checkin' in from, no matter where in the country or where in the world... I'm glad you stopped by on a day we remember an important figure in American history... Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Hey, man! We have a lot of fun around here. And, we've got a lot of ideas to have more and more laughs in the coming weeks. But, I wanted to start off the week by sharing just a few words and a thought on this national holiday.

My personal favorite quote by Dr. King is this:

"Let us realize the arc of the moral universe is long but it bends toward justice."

This principle is most likely the reason more and more Americans finally woke up.

Yay!

Yeah. That arc was, and is... long. There is still an awful lot to do. (As evidenced by last week's "4 Words Contest" here at the website.) It's all good... and comforting for me to know that this quote by Martin Luther King Jr is true.

Okay!

The next indoor gig is 5 days away!

This coming Saturday night, we're all gonna head to H.I. New York Performance Hall to help me retire a whole bunch of songs that I've written over the past 8 years... songs that I don't EVER wanna hafta sing again!!!

It's The 8 Year Concert

By the way... this gig is only $20 and H.I.N.Y is reeealllly easy to get to. It's on Amsterdam Ave at 103rd Street. The #1 train stops a half block away at 103 & Broadway. And both the B & C trains stop at 103rd and Central Park West.

We're gonna have a blast! I wanted to do something to celebrate this presidential inauguration tomorrow... AND have a reason to hang with all of you again in the middle of the winter. I also wanna retire a whole bunch of songs I've been inspired and compelled to write during the Bush administration.

So!

Next Saturday night, January 24th, we'll all get together and sing a bunch of those songs one last time and retire them forever! We'll sing other stuff, too. It'll be a blast. But, I wanna get everybody who senses Hope and Possibility in a room so we can feel this release together!

AND, I THINK I'LL HAVE A LIMITED NUMBER OF SPECIAL EDITION CDs FOR ONLY $10 THAT YOU GUYS CAN BUY IF YOU WANT TO - COMMEMORATE THIS ONE TIME GIG!!!

It's general admission... first come first serve. The concert starts at 7:30 but the house will open at 7:00.

Cool?

Okay... have at it! Grab some seats! Here's the banner.

Click on this banner to put your name on the list at the door.

OR...

You can just show up that night with a $20 bill. I'll let you know if it's lookin' like a sell-out as it gets closer, okay?

.
H.I. New York Performance Hall - 891 Amsterdam Ave @ 103 Street

Now! The way it works is this. You click on the banner to reserve your seats right now, today, 24 hours a day. There are no actual, physical tickets. You just reserve as many seats as you need and your name will be put on the guest list at the door, okay? Whoever comes with you will also be under your name. For example:

Hedleston, Teresa - 2
Marino, James - 2
Dalmation, family - 101

That kinda thing.

Ah!

.

Cool.

Hey, on MLK Day... I'm gonna take a few moments to get quiet and think about a few things in my Life. A good day to go inside my heart and think about...

Harmony.

Responsibility.

Accountability.

Conscience.

Compassion.

Forgiveness.

Life.

.

.

PEACE

Hope I see you next Saturday night.

See you back here tomorrow.

Thanks for everything.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
