Well, here we again.

We end and begin what we silly little creatures call "years".

.

Each time we make the choice to be compassionate or cruel
It defines what kind of ride we take upon this tiny jewel
And when the roadblocks start appearing
We've gotta keep on steering with our hearts

' Cause time is an invention, to help us try to make sense of
And endless string of fleeting moments filled with mystery and Love
'Though foolishly, we
Try to mark eternity
Each time a new year starts.

.

That's from my song "Next Time Around". It's kinda of a cool thought for me. But then, today is the day to pass on the last line of that song.

And now a simple man can share a simple with with you
That's nothing too profound.
I just hope we do a little bit better
And maybe get it right next time around.

Hey very seriously... THANK YOU so much to every single one of you who ever spent even one day out in Central Park with me. And thanks to all of you whom I've never met, but show up here at this website from all across this country and around the planet.

I'm a very lucky man.

And, please don't be put off by the fact that I often refer to all of us as "silly little creatures". I feel that human beings are both the silliest things walking around on the planet, and the most magnificent things in the Universe... all at the same time.

Sure, we are capable of such evil, ignorance and absurdity. But more often than not, we are capable of such beauty, compassion, Creativity, kindness and Love.

If you're anywhere in or around New York City in the next couple of months, I hope you can make to one of our indoor gigs. The first is "THE 8 YEAR CONCERT" on Saturday January 24th, and then I hope we will all be making a return to Merkin Concert Hall to break up the winter months.

BUT...

First things first. It's "The 8-Year Concert"! If you want to simultaneously celebrate the presidential inauguration and have some laughs as you help me retire a whole bunch of songs that I've written over the past 10 years, we'll do that in the 3rd week of January. But, you can reserve your seats RIGHT NOW!

THE 8 YEAR CONCERT

I wanted to do something to celebrate this presidential inauguration on January 20th... AND have a reason to hang with all of you again. I also wanna retire a whole bunch of songs I've been inspired and compelled to write over the past 8 years.

So!

On Saturday night, January 24th, we'll all get together in H.I. New York Performance Hall and sing a bunch of those songs one last time and retire them forever! We'll sing other stuff, too. It'll be a blast. But, I wanna get everybody who senses Hope and Possibility in a room so we can feel this release together! (Then, of course, we have a LOT more work to do!)

It's general admission... first come first serve. The concert starts at 7:30 but the house will open at 7:00.

Cool?

Okay... have at it! Grab some seats! Here's the banner.

Click on this banner to put your name on the list at the door.

OR...

You can just show up that night with a $20 bill. I'll let you know if it's lookin' like a sell-out as it gets closer, okay?

Now!

If you were at the "Year-End Concert" in Merkin Concert Hall, you know what kind of kick these things are. BUT, Merkin Concert Hall seats 450. In H.I.N.Y. Performance Hall there are only 150 seats. So, it's a lot more intimate and the way it works is this.

You click on the banner to reserve your seats right now, today, 24 hours a day. There are no actual, physical tickets. You just reserve as many seats as you need and your name will be put on the guest list at the door, okay? Whoever comes with you will also be under your name. For example:

Hedleston, Teresa - 2
Marino, James - 2
Dalmation, family - 101

That kinda thing.

Cool?

ALSO, EARLY IN '09 I'LL LET YOU KNOW ABOUT THE MID-WINTER CONCERT!

(We may just head back into that wonderful music venue... Merkin Concert Hall.)

Hey, I'll see you back here in 2009.

Hope you can call a few friends and make it to "The 8-Year Concert" in January.

Thanks for a great year.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
