Gonna start you right off today with a feel-good video.... for no other reason other than it.... um... should make you smile.
Kid can locate more states than most college students these days!
Right?
Hey guys... email me and let me know what you're planning to do on Inauguration Day.
On election night, I was home alone.... quietly watching the television. (But, hell, I personally called the election as soon as the first returns came in that showed Virginia close and Pennsylvania solidly on the side of Reason.)
But, January 20th is gonna be a moment unlike any other in American history. Nice to be around for it, hah? I wish we could set up a huge, big-screen TV and watch it together at "The Hill" in Central Park!
Man! It was a rough 8 years. And, what a bunch of wreckage we're left with! Y'know? It's not enough for all of us to be like a farmer who comes up from the storm cellar after a tornado and says, "Glad the wind stopped blowin'! Everything's okay now."
Time to clean up and repair the wreckage.
Still, for me it's gonna feel really good to let go of some of the songs I've had to write in that last 8 years. I hope you can come and join me!
It's gonna be fun!
"The 8 Year Concert" is the next indoor gig comin' up. It's actually only about 2 and a half weeks away. I'll give you a chance to reserve some seats a little further down the page.
Gotta remind everybody, though. The concert we did in December was at Merkin Concert Hall. there are 450 seats in Merkin Hall.
This gig is gonna be at H.I. New York Performance Hall on Amsterdam Ave. It's a more intimate space... and seats 150. (So, you might wanna think about calling some friends and reserving seats soon.)
FIRST...
I wanna make these 2 songs available as FREE downloads for anybody who's new here.

Click on the earth to download "Common Ground".
.
Okay... at the concert on January 24th we're gonna have a blast. We'll probably laugh as much as we sing. It is definitely gonna be a feel-good night - 4 nights after a historic inauguration and... well, let's face it I love any excuse to hang with all of you Good people and share a night of music.
Okay... have at it! Grab some seats! Here's the banner.
Click on this banner to put your name on the list at the door.
OR...
You can just show up that night with a $20 bill. I'll let you know if it's lookin' like a sell-out as it gets closer, okay?
This is just gonna give me a chance to let go of some of these songs that I hope I never have to sing again!!!
Remember this one from 2003!?
The first night I introduced the song and I knew it was gonna catch on because everybody at The Red Lion started singin' the hook. (In fact, I got emails the next day from people all over the city saying, "DAMMIT, David! I can't get that song out of my head!"
Pretty cool.
Listen... "The 8-Year Concert"! It's gonna be fun. You can reserve your seats RIGHT NOW!
On Saturday night, January 24th, we'll all get together in H.I. New York Performance Hall and sing a bunch of those songs one last time and retire them forever! We'll sing other stuff, too. It'll be a blast. But, I wanna get everybody who senses Hope and Possibility in a room so we can feel this release together! (Then, of course, we have a LOT more work to do!)
It's general admission... first come first serve. The concert starts at 7:30 but the house will open at 7:00.
Cool?

Okay...
I'm outta here.
I'll be back tomorrow.
Again... send some good thoughts and whatever kinds of prayers you have in your bag to those civilian people of Palestine who are getting their heads handed to them today.
PEACE
Thanks for everything.

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
