Welcome once again to all of you checking in here from across the country and different parts of the world.
Here in New York City... Man! We us a really fun night this past Saturday at Merkin Concert Hall. Seriously, we laughed about as much as we sang. If you were there with me... THANK YOU!
I don't think you guys were, y'know... singing.
You were SINGING!
And, the feeling in that great venue was just like so many of those golden days at "The Hill" in Central Park over the years!
One mo' time, I hafta thank those guys who shared the stage with me.
George Wurzbach
Ryan Cavan
Chris Tedesco and David Marcus
Now, it's time to start thinkin' about the next thing.
If you know me at all, you know that I am an unapologetic possibility-junkie. Well gott a tell you.... the reaction from that concert and the emails that have been pouring in have got me all fired up about.... everything.
Possibility!
Good feeling around one of my favorite holidays. (And, you guys know that I'm NOT religious at all.) Hell... I'm the guy who wrote "The Religion Song"
But, Christmas is cool.
Okay... so the next thing.
THE 8 YEAR CONCERT
Or... "Calling a Do-over on the Twenty-first Century".
Or, "A Chance to Retire All Those Songs!"
So at the concert on January 24th, I'm going to RETIRE a whole bunch of songs I've written over the past 8 years!!! Sing them, have fun with them, get them out into the Universe one last time and then hopefully.... never sing them again!
Of course, I'll keep writing songs that speak to what's going on in this country and on this world because it is part of my job description to "comfort the disturbed.... and disturb the comfortable."
I mean... people like this ass will still be around.

But, it'll be nice to retire a while bunch of songs!
AND, my good friend and colleague, the amazing, prolific and ridiculously funny, CHRISTINE LAVIN has already told me that she's up for a gig like this as well. So, keep checking back and I'll let you guys know when the tickets go on sale.
Cool?
Okay I gotta get back to work.
If you were at the concert last Saturday night... THANKS AGAIN!
I you missed it...
Oh man! You missed a good one!
Thanks again!

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
